I prefer this version to Costello's.
There's a certain frailty to Robert Wyatt's voice.
I used to have a Rough Trade compilation LP and there was a Robert Wyatt track called ' At last, I am free' which is a very lovely track too.
Wyatt used to drum with Soft Machine till he got drunk and fell out a window and broke his back but he can still play a mean percussion.

Long one of my favorite songs. Been a Wyatt fan since Soft Machine - what an amazing voice. Thanks for posting.

Robert Wyatt was a fantastic drummer with Soft Machine , also a unique singer .
Try to listen to "Moon In JUne", a 20mn song ...
