Description
This is a Collab between myself and scooter. He provided us with the tasty fuzz out, Bloody Valentine guitar licks, and creepy acoustic.

This was a battle for me. I learned a great deal from working with someone else, and at times frustrating, things worked out in the end. Can learn a lot from collabs, so get to it.

I hate setting up pieces with descriptions about songs. What does it mean to you?

Feedback is always the greatest.

Creepy
I find I can't read books like "1984," or "The Trial"
anymore because the reality of these books is too much
for me to take these days. I would probably feel the same
way about the film these sound clips were taken from.
What an ironic historical twist.

Aside from the message, this was brilliantly done. The
musical bed is perfect for this. It alone would be creepy
enough, but together, this sends chills up and down my
spine. Excellently produced. I applaud the both of you.

High marks, Fav., D/L!

disturbingly good
Powerful track, you guys. The descending melody brings it
home. Mostly, I like the distortion effect but there are times
when it seems a little too harsh on my ears. Some great
effects on the drums. I like how it breaks and faulter from
time to time in such a symbolic way of our wounded
democracy.

sickly beautiful
the contrast between the distortion (of both sounds &
political views) against the softer elements makes this
absolutely gut-wrenching. could use a little work on track
volume in places, but the crunchy sound really brings this
home. high marks for content. great tune, DL'd

Despotism
Hey other scooter, not the collab scooter, but ScooterDman. You can check
out the original short from 1946 (Which is entirely creepy) here:

I know scooter is not about, but we both truly relish the feed back. Thanks
guys/gals for your comments, they are taken to heart and are helpful.

gritty...
The price for freedom, is eternal vigilance. Become
educated. Vote. Care about your country and neighbors
in this and other countries. Fight against the Orwellian
worlds. Be the change you would like to see in the world.
Etc.

Nice gritty guitar and driving backdrop for the
soundbytes.

good sound
Is a good song, everything matches in perfect order. Drums
sound artificial, but in general everything is good.

Scary stuff
Been listening to this. After a few rounds it starts to get under the skin and the beat was affecting me. The way you guys have gone about this, I applaud.

Think this is one of your best, Canadian. Of course I have my favourites, but then again I also have my reasons.

Well done guys, I always fail when it comes to collabs but you have succeeded.

Great samples!
I also love to work with samples from movies or news-
clips. They often say so much more than beautiful sung
poetic lyrics.
These are heavy! They have a great impact.

And about working together, I always work together with
my brother Marco. But that`s more like a unit, we argue a
lott, but always come together in the end. When I work
with people I don`t know so well it`s much harder. But
the final product can be more fresh, something you didn`t
think off.

Timely
Some great samples in there! Excellent construction. My personal taste would have the distortion reduced; I just prefer cleaner sounds. And it cuts off a little quickly at the end. Little points tho, overall this is very cool.

Some good ideas here
The message comes through nice and strong, I'd like to get
some contrast and have some bits that help tie it in with
current events though. Like maybe a sample from a Clear
Channel%u2122 network ID to complement the bits about
controlling the media...

this music
is perfectly suited to the subject.
Despotism does work more smoothly under the name of
democracy. Thanks for creating and sharing this
interesting piece of music.

Interesting
Sounds like my AM radio drifting between 1950s
propaganda and 60s/70s acid rock. What a time warp.
Very crunchy and entropic.

Was this supposed to be my lullaby?
I'm sure I would have slept even less well than I did
last night had I listened to this before going to bed…
not that I don't like it because I really do, but a
soothing lullaby it isn't. I really dig collaborations…
the whole can be more than the sum of its parts… it
doesn't always work but I've certainly been impressed
with the three or four collaborations that I've done.
This sounds like a perfect combination of your
musical talents & visions. That excellent musical
soundbed combined with those effective samples
makes for an stunning overall sound. At times the
distortion is a little too much for me personally, but
only at times… it's a fine line and overall I feel you've
stayed on the right side of it. This has got a new fan
and guess who it is?

Beyond creative
I Really like the drums In the background. It gives it that
marching sound especially good when its a political song.
The random vocals/speeches remind e of watching Cnn
when things go wrongn they always play a song with
speeches and this should appear on cnn. Again i love the
samples, i love the guitars & most of alll the drums are great!
this is coming from a drummer...

Very cool
dig the drums, and distortion. It's gritty, honest and reflective.
Hope you don't mind the comparison, (cause it's certainly a compliment) but it reminded me a bit of UNKLE.

very noisy
this is not orange fizz but a friend of hers.

old school sampled dialog of the industrial yester year, cool I guess.
don't get me wrong, i listened to the dialog content and it is
interesting. very noisy mix however. sure you want to be creative...too
much effect is simply...too much. was there a guitar pedal or an actual
guitar head used? either way, what is sounds like is that someone over
over saturated the distortion for lack of playing ability. again, this can
be cool as long as the person playing the guitar at has at least some
technical ability. was this poor mix intentional? there's no breath or
time. the guitar is over processed and not mixed very well. overall
there are some good ideas but far from being cohesive. instrumentally,
jilting guitar parts that are not in time with the percs can be interesting
when it's not happening throughout the entire mix. most of all, the mix
needs new life in a re mix...balanced eq. this doesn't send chills up my
spine...rather it gives me a head ache. if you want pure terror scape
music/sound listen to old skinny puppy, tear garden and the like.
holyparsnip said 1520 days ago (September 28th, 2005)
very noisy?
Scooter did the guitar(it's a collab silly). I gave him maybe the sloppiest most
nonsensical soundscape i could. Somehow he put a guitar to it. I would hate
for you to have heard the process of making this song. If you think this is
noise, then I guess the Boredoms, Einstürzende Neubauten, Lou Reeds Metal
Machine music, and Sonic youths, confusion is Sex, would have the amount of
noise that would make you cry. I really didn't think it was that noisy,
especially compared to the examples of mid '80's industrial bands, that with
hipster like reflexes, you quoted.

Unless you are that big on Hall and Oates. Then yes. This is noise music. I
grew up on Sonic Youth's older stuff. Lee Ranaldos solo stuff is great. So to
me this is super light. I ended up making this more listenable then less.

This track is not supposed to be comforting. Music that isn't challenging to
listen to is boring(My opinion). The radio static and noise is supposed to form
with the outdated quotes. Attacking the brain.{giving yours a headache) I
didn't want a clean guitar song or sound. Isn't it obviously intentional? It's a
tone.
Well it seemed so for others and I'm glad some listeniners got that without a
ten page explanation under the song title. Cohesion is bad and is for grade
ten students learning art. Terrorscape? No, you are missing the point and
should broaden your own musical views. If you conform to nothing that strays
away from cohesion you will never have nothing new.

Did you expect to hear a song that reminded you of another one you like
from another band? Glad you didn't get it.

Thanks for the non-helpful quotes, if you would like I can give you the tracks
and you can do a remix if interested. I'd love to hear what you could do with
the original material, since it seems you have the ear for the perfect mix.

Thanks for commenting.

-Cheers
