the Unheeded Warning

Description
Do alarms ever go off in your head...warnings of dangers hidden down the road?
Ever feel like even the land is pushing up to the sky as a gate barring you from harms way?
This song is an instrumental jam of warnings, confusion and intrigue...a moth dancing around a flame...

Either that or it's just 3 guys jamming/pissing off the neighbors...you decide :)

Music by Wayfarer
Ryan Chubb -guitar
Jared Puppe -bass
Barry Lane -drums

Recorded with 1 mic all at once (not smart)...in a room/closet.
I added the intro siren by copying the tailing guitar feedback...

nice jam
This is a really good jam. Actually, considering how you recorded it with
just one central mic the sound is quite good. A propper multi-track setup
would indeed sound better but this ain't bad.

nice jam
I would love do the proper multi-track thing...that would be awesome, but here is the problem...
The room is so small that when we use more than one mic the bleed through ends up making the overall sound worse...perhaps I am not mixing them correctly.
The other option is to play one part at a time...but this seems to always remove the energy/feel of the three of us interacting.
Up until recently I was only interested in the emotion...the energy in the song...regardless of the quality...but I am starting to alter my attitude here and work on more of the technical stuff.
I am now trying different mic locations and starting to experiment with multiple mics...we will see what happens.

Any tips or tricks...please let me know. Thanks Peter!

What Peter said
Good jam- who cares if it's just one mic. Always great you guys jam live
and show it can be done and still sound good.

great stuff
I'd like it even better if there were vocals/lyrics to go with it. From the
song description you obviously have some interesting concepts
floating around for it.

The "live-to-tape" sound is remarkable considerng it's a single mike.

great stuff
Vocals/lyrics would be nice...but then the guitar would have to be toned down in parts...it is already a bit much...a little in your face for my usual taste.
Actually, I had a cold this day, which is usually fun for adding different vocal sounds...but this particular day my throat was down for the count...
Though, sometimes I just enjoy letting the guitar do the talking...it knows a language that I cannot sing.

miss your voice on this.
Sounds like a good moment in the room. Everyone is getting tight. On
my computer speakers, this is quite listenable, given you used just one
mic. Great guitar tone, but that's par for the course with you. Love the
new band name by the way. Perfect.

miss your voice on this.
Thanks Kris...good to hear from you...we are really trying hard to accurately capture the room sound.
We have a long way to go...and will probably have to get more equipment to do it right...It's always frustrating when you listen back and it just doesn't have the same intensity as when you played it...
I wish I could see how you do it.....(all of you guys here!) Please let us in on your tiricks!

good
for being recorded on one track it sounds pretty good. the bass seems a little hard to hear. pretty creative. and does sort of sound like alarms/

good
yes...this is another issue we are having...we don't yet have good reference monitors. judging the level of the bass through my earphones is a bit of a challenge...plus the mic we used does not pick up bass all that well...we will work on this.
Screamalexz, thanks for the comments.

great jam
Thanks JOAN!...Jam band? Yes…there is something that I love about jamming, hearing it and feeling it…
I rarely listen to commercial/produced music…I find it too clean, too premeditated, and too coerced…especially these days.
I mostly listen to live stuff, reveling in hearing a band flow in the moment…
getting looser to the point of flying apart and then suddenly falling right back into the groove.
I love hearing little mistakes and the unseen truths which can 'emerge from spontaneity…
If we ever find the time...maybe we will craft one of these into something more complete...but I hope we never loose that jam feel.
Thank you for your comments….
We really do appreciate your guys’ music...can we call you 'big sis'? :)

Ah, that sounds like fun
What I wouldn't give to have a band to thrash it out with. I'm jamming
vicariously through this song. Great raw sound. The lead guitar is
awesome.

Love that photo, by the way.

Ah, that sounds like fun
I feel very lucky to have two very close friends who also share a
like-mindedness to make music...I do not take it for granted.
It is the only time musically where 1 + 1 + 1 = 10...it is great discovering new sonic landscapes together...
...but now the hard part, learning to record better/cleaner.
Thanks Nolan...hope your path crosses some people to accent your amazing
talent. We admire your stuff and look forward to new stuff from you soon?!
