Genre-shifting
This would do as there is no reggae pop category. Or maybe there is...or
could be.

Nice song- you versatilty continues to impress me.

Bass?
This is a very nice tune Bob. If I get a chance I'd like to do some bass on it (or is it just my pathetic speakers stopping me from hearing it?). Genre wise I don't know - "pop" is OK I guess, but it seems like something else - not sure what though. I really like your voice.

Bob, you hang in there...
This is a seriously sweet and sincere and melodic and simple, attractive
song. Really nice.

As I said on the Chat thing, I could hear Sam Cooke sing it, or I could
hear Ben Harper tackle it. I could've heard Marvin Gaye do it. But ya
know, you could cross to something country-folkish, and someone like
Jesse Winchester could sing it...

It's a sellable song. I can't listen to the full arrangement well right now,
but it feels really good to me...

Nice little song there. Theres nothing wrong with it in the pop genre...
nice and simple and well sung.

The mix however could be improved alot. As it is it sorta sounds like
you're singing along to a midi backing track. Of course the
Garageband drums don't help with that but theres a few things you
could do to improve it. The mix needs to fuller... adding a few more
layers could help with this... but only if you start playing around with
the stereo space a little. At the moment everything is panned dead
centre except for the high hat of the drums (which you had no control
over anyway).

Eitherway, the vocals are done really well here congrats.

I agree with above, no need for seperate categories. Though no harm in having them I suppose.
I wondered, did you use a seperate mic as opposed to one on the mac?
Funny, i've just read your rant on Iraq, and now you sing so sweetly!

This
is the prettiest singing I've heard almost anywhere. This really moves me. Simple but just perfect. man..this is so good.
Guitar solo could have ended one time through then come back with the main singing 'same my name' aprt with you singing improvising over that. I wanted to hear your wonderful voice again.

Your delivery...
is effortless and genuine. Your voice is great. I would like to hear it
mixed better with the backup, but all in all this is a good tune. Very
catchy!

Reggae pop is should be…
… is there such a category? Aclarke makes a good point! This
reminds me a bit of the Police meets Puff the Magic Dragon. Nice
performance!

Simply....

well written, well sung, makes you want to sing along, and very enjoyable.
Four essential ingredients to a really good song. I agree more can be
done to make this a better mix/recording. But you have already done
the difficult part. By the way, what ever you do to improve the mix I
wouldn't add too much more by way of instrumentation. The simplicity
of this song is what gives it that "throwback" feel and allows your
vocal to shine.

Very nicely done. Simple but not simplistic (if that makes any sense).

Well done.

good song
Good song. I ranked it high in Song Writing/Content. I will agree with
others that the arrangement could be stronger and it would make the
song stronger.

Hints of BOZ
Cool tune. Thanks very much for sharing it. At the outset of the song, I think the voice has some hints or some overtones of Boz Skaggs or something similar. Keep at it. You make enjoyable tunes.

Nice Song
I agree with most of the people on here, this song could easily be
produced into something a little money maker for you bob

Your voice
Legit. Not MJ legit, not coffee house legit, not radio-friendly, just simply talented any way you slice it. The song though, not really my cup of tea. A little on the Saturday afternoon house band side at the cancun tourist spot during Spring break. But damn dude, you're a great singer.
