Lord, prepare Us for Your Advent

This is a song I wrote for the Advent season. I sang it for church last Sunday, and recorded it that afternoon with my new Snowball mic. The voices and guitars are me playing 'live'. The bassline is a software orchestral bass from jampack 4. Time limitations meant that I chose to leave in some less than perfect moments, and I also discovered that the click track was faintly discernable under the guitars. Oh well. My new Snowball mic has a much warmer sound than anything I've used up until now.

So your love will flow among us as we celebrate these days.

Word made flesh you came to earth, just a babe of lowly birth.

Lived your life as a man among men,

Gave your promise to come again.


Lord, Prepare us for your advent, give us holy hearts, we pray,

So your truth will shine out from us as we celebrate these days.

Light of the world, you came that day,

to save us from sin and to show us God's way.

We've seen your example, accepted your grace,

now make us the light for this time and this place.


Lord, prepare us for your advent, give us loving hearts, we pray,

So your Spirit lives among us as we celebrate these days.

Love incarnate, you came to be the bearer of God's true charity.

Let each believers own life now express

a bit of your love and holiness.
