Description

I think I started working on this song a year ago. I had to let it go for awhile because I didn't think it'd really ever amount to anything. I had a few people toy around with it as a collab with vocals, remixes, etc., but I wanted to upload this beta version to see what you all think before I take it in a different direction or leave it as is. I'm hoping those remixes and other collab versions materialize some day. Let me know what you think or if you have any brilliant suggestions. Thank you!

Dreamy sweetness
This is the great MissChaos style dreamy music I love. Soft,
bittersweet, well chosen piano & synths, pretty melodies, nice ebb and
flow of dynamics. I've only listened through headphones, but one
critique would be that there was a lot of live panning back and forth
early on, and it was a little more distracting than pleasing... that would
be less obvious on speakers. I loved the occasional female two-note
sigh. The percussion was beautifully tasteful. I almost wanted a richer
bass sounding synth thing in there, some soft long-reverbed deep
bass throb... you had a couple in there for a very short appearance, but
I wanted more low-end sounds. That's about all I can think of as
helpful critique. This was definitely a very good piece of yours. Like
Ember, it could have a little more added to it, but it really stands nicely
by itself too.

Dreamy sweetness
Drak, you have a keen ear, my friend! I know we chatted briefly today about
this, but I absolutely agree with you on that ringing sub bass sound. I wanted it
so bad, but never felt like I quite had it right. I think I may take your advice on
that and have _nder "twist some noisy knobs" on the song. :-) Thank you for
everything!

	You still have the "touch" Beautiful and evocative. Very subtle and intellegent changes. Selection of instruments keeps this "fresh" and timeless. You mention "dark" in the keywords... I find it uplifting, mesmerizing and provocative.

Alimar, you always seem to have a slightly different listening angle and I love to
hear it. I thought the beginning was awfully dark. So much so, that I couldn't get
this dark, underwatery vision out of my head. That vision prodded the song
along. I'm really thankful for your comment, Al. (and Jack's reply too!)

Gentle and soft come to mind
...When I hear this - I don't know how you got those percussive loops
to be so soft and loopless-like... I do hear the sadness... This is the
second piece that you've submitted of which you started a year ago
and I don't know what happened, (as well, it's none of our business)
but I will guess that it was one of, if not the biggest of challenges that
you've had to confront. And there's phat remnants of it here, but the
reflection of it by you is beautiful... Sometimes, things only need to be
touched by you it seems... Umm - I have to go now because a huge
part of me is trying for an unbelievable gut retching cry... My god, what
happened...

P.S. Silly - I guess that it helps sometimes to turn off the replay... But I
guess I needed to let go...

Dion, you give me lots of hope and faith – The world needs more of you. You are
one of a dying breed of truly benevolent people. You're right; this song was the
outlet of lots of hardship. I hate sounding like I'm organizing my own pity party.
I don't say much about myself here, but I can tell you that I've been through
some things that most people couldn't begin to imagine; I lost and found myself
in a matter of 2 years. But the treasures I've gained are immeasurable, tangible
ones and intangible ones. Karma. I can't seem to hide under these songs cuz
people like you keep calling me out on what's beneath them. :-) Dude, you've
got a gift and I love ya for it! Thank you, you big jerk that made me all sappy
and teary! Hugs!

aClarke and Dadai, I'm really stoked that you like this -- and I viewed it as an
unfinished thing and almost tossed the file! It's weird when you throw pieces of
yourself like splattered paint on a canvas, only into a song. You just can't part
with it without those tinges of guilt... almost as if we need to hold onto the
painful memories to remind us just how far we've come and how strong we are
and capable. thanks to both of you!

reminds me of
what i liked about "The Beach."

Yes moby kind of sold out, but that song was released during a very
good summer for me - so i dig it and what it evokes...

this song seems to have that same stamina. it will hopefully document
a great moment in peoples lives (especially yours) that you will be able
to revisit in years to come.

It's funny, Moby sold out and made lots o' money doing the "pop" thing... but he
didn't go and buy a bunch of bling, expensive clothes and fix his nasty teeth.
No. He opened a vegetarian tea house in NYC. I like the guy. I can't help it. He's
really nice in person, too. Really soft spoken and gentle. In my mind, his music
took off and that, unfortunately, puts him in a place to get chastised. Eeeek, off
my soap box! Thank you, Peter--underdog--for such a great comment. :-)

dripping with reverb...
...just the way I like it.

The precious simplicity here is breathtaking. I don't hear
darkness, but a hushed state of dream-like weightlessness...

I see pieces of the moon slowly rising and falling on the surface of
a calm river at dusk. Leaning over the edge of the long boat, I am
almost in danger of falling out. I wonder just how close can I get
my face to the surface of the water as it glides by. The steam
rising from the surface tickles the tiny hairs under my cheek.

(how's that for cheesy!)

This was really shocking!
Because it was the best thing I have ever heard on macjams nothing like the bedroom musician-ship I her all the time this needs a really good vocal, I only wish i had the time.
I'm downloading it and will someday put word to it for my own reasons, man this was good!

I love this piece.......
the sounds and textures and the picture evoked together make listening to this 'beta' version a real treat.

I cant wait for the alpha version or indeed any other version.

The piano sound reminded me of Yanni. Wonderful.

The piece is now one of my 'Get me to work at 5 am' choices, on my latest Macjam drive time CD.

	Relaxing This song is very relaxing.. Has a very soft texture and I tend to listen to it just before going to sleep sometimes. Very good use of percussion too.

	Very Ethereal Beautiful piece with fabulous, subtle changes... flowing from dark to almost uplifting at times. Great attention to detail in the mixing, not pushing anything too hard, although I thought that the piano was a little understated. Ambient-ish
I like this one, Miss C, very layed back and such. The Piano is wonderful there in the beginning-middle with the drum hits. This one creates power out of simplicity it seems. Good Job.

The artwork goes with this very well too, almost helps in setting the mood.

Sorry it took so long to get to this, my computer is dead :( (for now)

Great I love this
This piece has a very ethereal, melancholy quaity to it. I bought a little mobile midi controller when I bought my new Imac a few months back. I have experimented a bit with the built in synth sounds and thought it was cool, but when I hear somebody like you that has real keyboard skills and what can be accomplished, I'm blown away. I'm an old blues/rocker guitarist and keyboards are a different animal for sure. I know enough music theroy to fiure out chords and scales, but it's still a steep leaarning curve. You are obviously very accomplished at this. Good Job

Great I love this
wow, thanks stratcat! I actually played keyboards for a while in a blues/rock
band and switching gears to that genre was not easy either! But I acquired an
appreciation for it now -- mostly for the improv ability that you all have. It's
amazing... trying to come up with solos on the fly in front of an audience, whew!
What I do is so internal (um, trial and error!) and requires so much editing and
re-doing. Well, it's very lovely of you to stop by and say such nice things. Thank
you.

Evocative Soundscape
I really like the soft and subtle groove of this. It's very successful at
evoking cinematic imagery for me--or maybe it's just that I'm deeply
into film and film music, and am already predisposed to such flights of
fancy.:) In any case, this is a lush little soundscape--the perfect
underscore for a film...or a daydream.:) Thanks for sharing it.

Oh, and if you don't make it back to read my response to your
comments on my Dark Seas track, thanks for the nice comments.
They're much appreciated.:) And btw, no, you're not crazy--that piece
always felt Celtic (and nautical) to me.:)

	Wonderful! Simply amazing. I love the piano melodies. The mix is phenomenal. I see you have it listed as film scoring and I could see it used that was. On it own though, it's very relaxing to listen to. Love the tune! ps-I landed here 'cause I just listened to EE's remix of this and had to listen to the original.
