Sweet Amber Liquid

Description
The music background is from Kennybender's original song titled "Whole Lot of Water" ... http://www.macjams.com/song/18836 - and I thought it should have been more about a whole lot of booze ..... hence the following Sweet Amber Liquid

Lyrics
Sweet amber liquid
Wrap me in your embrace
Keep me safe from the villains
The villains of the human race

Cloud my vision
Oh – Oh so that I won’t see
Only emptiness
Staring back at me

Muffle my hearing
Oh – Oh - so that I won’t hear
The ghostly silence
Echoing in my ear

Burn my throat
Oh - like a warm autumn rain
So that I will feel nothing
No sorrow, no pain

Take away my suffering
If you dare
Make me feel nothing
Make me not care

Oh – Oh sweet amber liquid
Oooooh

Oh – Oh sweet amber liquid
Wrap me in your embrace
Keep me safe from the villains
The villains of the human race
Ooooh - Take away take away my pain
Oh sweet amber liquid
Keep me safe from the villains
Oh the villains of the human race
Ohhhhhhh ohooooo

I see slowly shaking heads and really long ashes. An excellent sense of longing for and from... Your vocals have a Jimmy Scott quality to them, and the music is yearning and intoxicated... This might also apply to Sweet Emerald Leaf. Very nice indeed!

You know .. when I read the Jimmy Scott reference ... I admit I had no idea who that was ... but my fruitful internet search yielded results for me .... and wow I will take that as a compliment ... thank you !! What I noticed about Jimmy's vocals were a "unique sound" like something I had never heard before ... and I am hoping that I am still ok in the "compliment" arena ...

dripping with sweat on the glass
Sheesh, this is very well matched. First of all, very good blues
background, KennyBender, and welcome to Macjams! And Alannah, as
usual, your sultry voice wraps around music like smoke on the lips... the
lyrics are quite good, although there were some bumpy spots (I'd look for
another way to say "human race", it seemed too sterile sounding to me.)
Good stuff you two, tugs at the blues in us all.

You are so insightful as usual Drak .. there is a good chance that there was likely a cigarette dangling out of my mouth while singing this ... hahaha .... however, I was surprised that the master of Words did not supply me with a suitable rhyme word for "embrace" to replace "human race" ... hahahahaha hmmmm "head case"??? "someone with a funny face" ???? "people who I wanna spray with mace" .... see I couldnt make it work ...... (hee hee)

Pass me a bottle of beer...
Alannah...This song was made for you. Your whiskey-voiced rendition
certainly fits this song like a glove. One can't help but feel like being
transported to a dark lounge when he listens to this, complete with
dim light and shadows and depressed people doing bottoms-up on
their drinks, and you're in one corner with shimmering dress singing
forlornly under an overcast column of white light. You are at your
best with this kind of music.

My only nitpick...try to give the song a vocal break when the guitar is
going solo, to highlight the instrument in certain segments.

Awesome job, Alannah...Hope to hear more from you in this genre.

Pass me a bottle of beer...
Now if only I drank whisky instead of Beer .... hmmmmm the possibilities .... Thanks for the tips Leon ... unfortunately with this particualar tune ... it was ME trying to fit the lyrics into a piece of music that had already been written ....and I was too anxious to get it posted rather than working with Kenny to add a little more music soundbed. As it was ... I eliminated two verses from the original song that I had written years ago to fit it into this song. Kenny and I are working on a future collab a little closer whereby the music and the lyrics will be prepared together which will allow for more instrumental breaks in the song and hopefully will flow smoother and follow a more defined structure.

Help yourself
Pour it out. Let it flow. So sorry about the pain. Happens to most of us at some time or another. It's the human condition. Look, there's a barmaid dropping a liquor glass. Clean it up, honey. So sparse. No adoring crowd to soak it up. Wishing you were here. A gaggle of one would do me fine. Phone is diconnected. Must send my message via MacJams. It's year 2006. What time is it now, oh you who are reading this years from now? Does this song still drip with pathos or what? What have you felt today? Alannah rules this night! And Kennybender's on a bender, bringing down the house of spirits. Way to go, collab team. More of same.

Nice Job
I think this has gotta be the FIRST time anyone ever said anything about my "production" .... however, my end of the production was mixing the vocals into the MP3 music track .... so not sure how much credit I can take ... but thanks for the comments .... cheers me up !

Cool band
You seem to work with Kennybender quite a bit and the balance between your vocals and his jams is quite good in this one. He's got some really tasty moves on the guitar and I'm guessing he's playing the bass as well. There was an excellent presence and balance overall from the band. Your voice, as always, is distinctive and unique. The lyrics, however, were marginal; it's your voice that lifts them to have any value. A 'sweet amber liquid' could be Pepsi Cola, after all. So, that's my two cents. The delivery from both of you is excellent.

Cool band
hahaha - to each his own poison I suppose .... my personal amber liquid is honey brown lager ! Keep your eyes peeled for one more Alannah/Kennybender collab coming very very soon (called "Touch Me There). As with the Amber Liquid .. the "There" is up to you to decide "Where".
