A song I wrote years ago. Perhaps it needs some more verses, I don't know.

Lyrics
Be good to me
Belong to me
Take an axe to my family tree
Write my obituary

Be kind to me
Beware of me
One thing on which we must agree
My life belongs to me

Mix?
The drums are on a different plane than the lyrics, words are a bit lost.
And I agree, needs more verses. Like 50. You got 48 more to write.

Seriously, can see this one going on for quite some time. Nice music. Nice
little song.

Mix?
48?! Damn... I better get cracking...

Thanx Chris. Your candour is always appreciated. I do need to tweak the mix, but I'm not really sure how to go about it without pulling the whole bloody thing apart...

really nice instrumentation!!
Ross,
I agree with Chris, more verses!
the instrumentation is great & nice use of the flute.
For my money, I think the vocals could do with some reduction in the
overall mix?

I love the mood of this song!

really nice instrumentation!!
Thanx Alf. It's weird - on some speakers the vocals stand out, and on others they're kind of muted. It's weird. I must attempt to write some more verses...

Very weird Ross!
I agree that this could go much much further - very Nick and Kylie
sound here (I can see the video!). As well as some extra verses, a
chorus might just give some relief in the middle. Having said that, I
quite like this as is - on second listen it's already growing on me. The
instrumental tracks are really intriguing, especially that solo whistle(?)/
flute(?).
Good post,
Neil

Very weird Ross!
I think I originally had words for the chorus (the second flute solo) but never wrote them down. So, when I pulled the song out 9 years later, there was nothing...
Thanx for commenting Neil. :-)

A Possible Alternative
to adding verses would be creating an extended instrumental section with
layering of (orchestral?) instruments. This might work better I think if an
additional, complementary melody were introduced, to break up the
monotony (I enjoy repetitive variations on a simple theme, but more
objectively, I also think many people find that boring).
I enjoyed this.

A Possible Alternative
I like the idea of a counter melody Mungo - I might work on that. I have been tweaking this in GB and there's now two guitar parts and a piano track. I might use the piano to work a counter melody against the second chorus.

no problem
to be good to you on this. Good tune mate.

I like the art... "Madonna" by the Norwegian artist edvard Munch. This and his other famous painting "Skrik" was stolen from the Munch-museum. I think their still missing, and it's said that they might have been damaged...

Very Mysterious!
I really like the layered vocals - they kind of float in the background which sounds ghostly and very fitting for the song. I also like the flute its kind of erie at certain points. Great Song!

absorbent
Such a great, haunting melody - one of those that could go on and on for 50 verses and you wouldn't get tired of singing it.

Maybe you could recruit other macjammers to contribute some of the other 47 verses you need to make the goal cjorgensen set for you?

Here's my contribution -

Take a pickaxe to my consciousness
Take a jackhammer to my soul
It's gonna take a dump truck, baby,
To haul away the hole.

Wait - can a hole be hauled away? Not sure about that. Maybe what's needed is a bulldozer to fill it up?

Well, I'm joking around here, but that's only because I do really think this absorbent song has great potental. It's one of those opened-end structures that you could keep adding to over time, whenever another "canto" gets written.
