Reality TV
What does the licence fee pay for? Having acquired a collection of seventies Radio and TV Times magazines, I can confirm that TV then was pretty dire - unless you liked Seaside Special or The Black and White Minstrels.

Good stuff
This is a cool, fun little pop tune...I can relate to your rant about 'reality
TV' - the scourge of our nation...I too am fed up with all this 'I think I am
a celebrity, pander my ego' type shows.
Nice chiming guitar sounds and affecting vocasl. This reminds me a little
of another Mj'er called Eltopo...check out his 'gentrification' track!
Cheers
Steve

Good stuff
Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it. I enjoyed recording it (a bit of a departure from my usual gloomy folky acoustic songs). PS. Also love the Go-Betweens (and Grant McLennans solo stuff) - Very much an influence.

Strange you should say that - my wife disovered another song with her in as well. Anyway, I don't mind being in the same company as Victoria Wood (but not Judith Chalmers)! Thanks for listening, Peter

Fab track
TV has certainly got dire - and that's starting from a very low base.

Has anyone seen 'Year of the Sex Olympics'? Made in the 60s - bang up
to date prophetic warning on dumbed down TV.

I was speaking to an American a while back who said how great it was
that we have BBC news to tell us truth.

Funny - whenever I watch BBC News I'm constantly bored by the
onslaught of government corpotate press releases thinly disguised as
news: 'The CBI argued that...', 'Halifax figures suggest...', 'a
government spokesman said...', 'The ONS said inflation slipped back to
0.0003% after carrots came into season...'

I'll pay a tenner licence fee for natural history programs, but beyond
that I couldn't give a stuff.

Fab melody.

RIP Grant McLennan...

Great song, definately reminds me of the Go-Betweens:

... on a very sad note...Peter, did you know that Grant McLennan
passed away about weeks ago?

RIP Grant McLennan...
Thank you for dropping in and listening, and for your comments. I was very sorry to hear Grant McLennan had died suddenly. Always one of my biggest influences - And just as The Go-Betweens were beginning to receive long overdue success - Very sad news.

Bananas as it could be
Good guitars and melody. One suggestion is that you might try to sing with a less melodic, more hardened vocal. It seems that your voice is almost too folk singer style for a bite out of the tv sandwich. Your background vocal "Reality TV" could also be used with a megaphone type voice to enhance the difference between it and lead.

Good production and the song is very good.

Thanks
for listening and for your comments - Glad you like the song. I don't normally to these 'rocky' numbers and you're absolutely right suggesting that my voice is perhaps a little soft for it (although it does make it less predictable). I did record an acoustic version where I sound far more more comfortable. I have re-mastered this since and centralised the 'Reality TV' bits on the chorus which I think sounds better. I will post an update at some point.

It's been
a long time since this one was posted - glad you found it! It's still one of my favourites and was quite different to the folky stuff I'd been doing. Thanks for listening.

Hitting your first
Love going back and hitting firsts. This is reality TV, in a way. Good stuff, Peter.

Dumbing down IS capitalism. Didn't you learn that in school?

I always like
checking out the older stuff too.

Thanks for listening to this 'oldie' which is still a favourite of mine - as ever, there are a few things I might change if I were doing it now (not sure if the one up here is the final mix/master) but it's a fun song!

great song Peter -
it's funny but I've written a song very much on this subject called - Celebrity Cats -

This song is just what the doctor oredered, it's about time someone gave this form of so called entertainment a poke in the eye.

Like your vocals as well, I could have imagined Ian Dury doing this.

Nice one,

John

Thank you
I have a soft spot for this song - so it's always nice to see it get dusted down!

I think I'm even more fed up with the rubbish on TV now than I was when I wrote this.

Thanks for checking this one out.

Good song. I don't even have a tv in my home. A conscientious objector...

Thanks...
I must admit my TV is used mostly for watching old movies.

Thanks for listening to this 'oldie'
