Description
This is the first song I posted on MacJams. It's not a remix, or a colab, or anything other than an opportunity on my 1 year MJ "birthday" to repost a song which was overlooked on it's first run. Thanks Dion for making the suggestion!

This is very much a different style of music to what I am known for now - there are no live instruments (all loops), and no effects used (at the time, I didn't know how to!).

I was hoping to upload this as a colab, but am still working on that, and it's going to take some time to get it right. Meanwhile, here's another side of jiguma - I'm really unsure of the genre!

Photo - just some friends in the backyard.

I hope you like it - as usual, play it loud!

First of all:
Happy anniversary!

It's always fun to listen to people's early tracks and see how they've
changed and/or developed with time. You've changed a whole lot,
apparently! :)

First of all:
Thanks for listening Einar. This song is what I did when I had no confidence in my ability to play real instruments and sing. This seemed to work OK, so I started singing and playing for real again. When you've had 25 years away from music, the loops are a safe way to test the water again.

Impact and easing.
Is this originator jiguma?
Or,
Is it new jiguma?
I was surprised.
Very interesting sound and composition.
Your different one side.
The code progress is wonderful.
I came to want to play the guitar.

By the way,
Does kangaroos fight?

Oh man, I so glad that you posted this
I think that I owe just one copy and paste Neil, so here are my words
from the original posting of this tune - I think that everyone should
consider posting a tune that got overlooked before they became more
well known here - I think that this would be a great idea... Thanks, Neil

you're holding back

Talk about deeply groovn. - Man Neil, I REALLY like this. Alot. Very
intellegent piece. I think that you should repost this so that everyone
will have a chance to hear it. I mean, don't do it while I have one
posted. LOL - Oh, must of been my insecurities lurking about - This is
great Neil. And you have the advantage of being able to jam some
guitar on this just to repost but the way it is, I lyke it...

For as much as I've fiddled around w/ GB, I still have no clue as to how
you did this. No idea, not a single clue...

Thanks for the invite, it's one that I truly enjoyed and appreciate. - Cyd

Thanks for the idea of reposting this Dion, and for transferring the comment across - I appreciate your encouragement and appreciation as always. Are you in France yet?

Oh man, I so glad that you posted this
Yes Neil, I have been to Paris; I measured up a two story flat, (to produce
some pretty drwgs for a client/friend) I painted the city for two nights while I
was there (I used an awful lot of painting) and then to NYC twice, and I am
home w/ plans to leave again tomorrow, or Thursday (I don't know what
today is) to head to Washington DC for two days and then back again - Would
you like for me to drop off a few words; possibly a song to our head cowboy
while I'm in DC...

Do you think that I have a dependency problem, here...

I suspect you know what I'd like you to pass on to your (/our) fearless leader! Painting Paris - must have used a big brush!

Happy anniversary, Neil!
Now, see, this is really neat. I actually got into MacJams with the notion
in the back of my head that I'd end up making tunes more like this...
new and different from anything I'd played around with before...

You actually did it...

Now I want to hearing the morphing between this and what we've come
to know as the jiguma (prounounced 'ji-GOO-ma) sound... What will
that sound like, precious?...we wonders, yes, we wonders...

Very cool, Neil...

Happy anniversary, Neil!
Thanks for dropping by for the history lesson Ed. After this little ditty, I posted "I Have Wandered" which had a vocal (of sorts), 12 string (real), bass (real) and mandolins, electric guitars and a few other things (unreal). If you decide to listen to it, I'd suggest the second or third version - the first is a tad embarassing!
I did a few similar to "Avec Vous" - "Defenestration" and another one at http://www.macjams.com/song/12917 as my alter ego (who got bored and only posted one song!).
I enjoyed doing these, but find the real playing more satisfying,
Neil

Happy MJ Anni-birthday!
Yeah---a lot of us have come a very long way Neil. It's fun to hear your
creative energy in search of an outlet here. Good stuff. Of course, I much
prefer the new, improved and Lemon (or is it Kiwi?) fresh Jiguma of today!

Many happy Mac-returns of the day!

Maybe not ........
Maybe this didn't get much of a look because nobody liked it much.
Oh well, the historical significance is now past and I can relegate to the
archives.
Thanks for commenting everyone.
Now, back to some jiguma music.

Kind of isolationist in its approach.
I like it! Anything that moves my mind back into a corner and then starts
to tickle my psyche with big marshmallow fingers makes me happy.

Very good idea to have brought ths back up, great listen!

nice evolving cycle
i always find it hard to find the appropriate change points in an
evolving tune, like this one. you know, finding when it's just the right
time to introduce the next cycle of new sounds is hard.

you've got it just right in my humble opinion.

several times here a new part comes in that redefines what has been
playing before. i really like that effect, it's something i strive for in
some of my tunes.

the ending sounds like you just faded it out. i was really hoping for
more i guess. is there another 5 minutes in the original that you cut?

ROBOT RUMBLE
i get an industrial big machine kinda feel from this - i see strange looking gigantic robots wheeling in slow motion in a clunky cotilion. this really kicked into gear for me at 1:14. the big dark bass at 2:40 was a good addition, at 3:40 the guitar sizzled, and i liked the 6:00 spot sonics. excellent first loopage!
