Description
Wellsir, for Warren Smith, this is what happened after Self-Portrait.
lotta notes possible for this one. Yes, true story, written almost 30 years ago.
But mostly, with this one, it was an excuse to do another one with Dadai (Jack Miller). I've played with hundreds of musicians over the years and I can honestly say I haven't had more fun making music than I have with Jack. And damn, I've never really met the man :)
If you're the type who reads the notes before playing the tune, jes sit back and relax. This one's sorta designed to sound like a buncha guys getting together and pickin' a tune. Nothing more. And nothing less.
Snow: lede & backing vocals, flat-pick electric-acoustic, bass
Dadai: bunch'o'backing vox, two steel string guitars, slide guitar, harmonica
Thanx to Zetes & sembleton for lending an ear and their post-production input.

Lyrics
Micky
She'd almost turned 30, the first time we met
A friend of a friend introduced us
I called myself Khance, and she was Mirage
She said: "I'll make you tea"
I said: "Don't make a fuss"
I lived in a basement; she lived in a cloud
She told me that she wouldn't hurt me
Wish I had known before it was too late
But at the time she became all she could be
She seemed all together when her friends were a mess
She said: "Yes well I had my turn"
"Mom ended her life with a hair-cutting knife"
She wondered why she'd never learned
Her husband had taken a job in computers
But that's not why she called it quits
A change in the times, had caused her to think
There were others that she could perform with
When it became winter I bought her a coat
Designed by some fairy in Rome
She said: "That's the nicest thing anyone's done
"For me, you just wait til we get home"
In her satin nightclothes, the roommate slashed her wrists
And one-night stands, they get breakfast
A room covered in blood, aesthetical death
I guess that's why musicians don't last
Then I had to leave her alone for awhile,
I bought us some really good wine
We drank it, got loaded and then went to bed
Slipped into secluded recline
She came up to see me when I was in the woods
I showed her off to my old friends
But many of the things we northerners say
Were more than she could comprehend
I went back to Chicago and bought her a ring
I said: "Would you come be my bride?"
She said: "I'm so much older than you are my friend
"But I sure did enjoy the whole ride"
I doubt that I will ever see her again
There's been quite a few girls since her
But she was the only one, I'd ever asked
Why she said "no" I've never been sure.

Fine storytelling here. I like the lead vox a lot. Fits the tune like a glove.
Jack's background vocals add depth. The playing throughout by both of
you is wonderful. This one definitely gets on my "Best of Macjams" MP3!
Be well!
PS---Have either of you heard Frogmorton's recent: UNSEEN HAND?
(http://www.macjams.com/song/20642). I think it is an exceptionally
good piece and hasn't got nearly the support it should have.
