Description
I used to live in Cheltenham (England) and Malvern Road is a street in the town where I spent a lot of time with friends (who lived there) and where I first got to do 'proper' recordings with a couple of groups I was with at the time.
This track began as guitar phrase over which I improvised on the fiddle. I also got to play with my new toy - a RIML FiddlePro mic which is pretty hot and allows me to record acoustic fiddle when I want rather than having to wait for the house to empty of children, etc.

Malvern Road? Blimey, that was where I used to hang out when I first
moved to Cheltenham. It's been gentrified now, but in the early 90s it
was a curious mixture of posh flats and squatters' dives. I love it there.
I used to stay in a fantastic Gothic building with castellated balconies,
stained glass and a cloister, which was divided into crummy flats with
hideous floral carpets.
(For those who don't already know, I used to live next door to Komrade
K in Cheltenham, but we never knew each other until we met on
MacJams 12 years later.)
Anyway, this is beautiful. The two instruments, both stringed but
sounding completely different, weave in and out of each other and
make it very three dimensional. Kind of chilled out and eccentric and
timeless, an appropriate tribute to the street.
