Description
Here's another ancient song, once again rescued from an old cassette demo with the good offices of SoundSoap. Still got a little hiss, I think, and the level may need a boost. Don't be afraid to turn this up. This is the first and only song of mine that was ever on an LP, as in vinyl. It appeared on the Fast Folk Musical Magazine Best of Boston compilation in the 80's.
Wheatstone Bridge (1984):
Ed Hannifin: lead vocal, guitar
Phyllis Capanna: harmony vocal
Nan Donald: harmony vocal on choruses, and the more complicated guitar bits
I feel obliged to say that, although I am mostly posting older recordings and songs right now, I am actually working on new songs, new music, and new recordings of some old songs. Promise.
Really.

Lyrics
North Shore Waltz
Copyright 1984 Ed Hannifin
If my dreams were more kind, they’d drag me behind
All round Rockport, Plum Island and home
Where ocean and sand, your brown eyes and brown hand
Caught me and taught me to roam
Don’t speak in more than a whisper
Don’t speak at all if you’re sad
Don’t let me think you regret
Any loving we’ve had
If you’re ever unsure, then this trip is the cure
All round Rockport, Plum Island and home
We’ll walk and we’ll ride, we’ll be found at low tide
Like the driftwood tossed up on the foam
Don’t speak in more than a whisper
Just let me hold you a while
Oh I have been trying all night
To get through to your smile
If I ever prove false, you can damn me to waltz
All round Rockport, Plum Island and home
We’ll waltz down the shore, we’ll waltz back to your door
Though my feet may be sore to the bone
Don’t speak in more than a whisper
Just let me kiss you and cry
I may not still have it to win you
But I have to try

This is very nice Ed, I am amazed at how good these old recordings sound
...very nice guitar interplay on this one. It has a very soothing quality I
think. I was listening to some Townes Van Zandt today and this could fit
nicely onto one of this albums..
Look forward to hearing some new stuff from you soon too
Steve
