Description
This an American Indian or Indigenous song about the U.S. policy towards Indigenous peoples on the North American continent since the time of Columbus up to the removal of Indigenous peoples to reservations. I guess it's a political protest song.

Lyrics
Kill the Indian Not the Man
Copyright - Gary Witherspoon Jr. - Vision Quest Music

More than 500 years ago
Far away in a land called old.
They came to take control
Of our land and all our souls
What are a people to do
When there are only a few
To withstand all the pain
Brought on by this masquerade

And as the years went on
The answer soon became clear
To eliminate all the White Man's fear

Chorus:

Kill the Indian Not the man
Hold hand turn the red into white
Kill the Indian not the man
Take his soul but not his life.

Oh, maybe someday
We'll all understand
All of us are important
Including the Indian

More than 300 hundred years ago
The Pueblo did not go
Away from the land where they belong
For it was there home.
As Pope led them along
To regain their homes
So they once could live again
As a kinship of friends.

And as the years went on
The answer soon became clear
To eliminate all the white man's fears

Chorus:

Kill the Indian Not the Man
Hold his hand turn the Red into White
Kill the Indian Not the Man
Take his soul but not his life

Oh, Maybe someday, we'll all understand
All of us are important including the Indian

Interlude - Guitar solo

More than 100 years ago
Many died at Wounded Knee
For the massacre and fear
That would last a 100 years

Send our children off to school
Cut their hair and don't be cruel
And teach them all that they should know
About the tractor and the hoe

And as the years went on
The answer soon became clear
To eliminate all the white man's fears

Chorus:

Kill the Indian Not the Man
Hold his hand turn the Red into White
Kill the Indian Not the Man
Take his soul but not his life

Oh, Maybe someday, we'll all understand
All of us are important including the Indian

much better
good sing voice shines thru on this song. and yup you have a Eagles
influence in your style. should of put the guitar solo on a seperate track
so you would still have the rythm guitar in place.

Suggestion
Thanks for the comments. Yes, I agree about the separate track to keep the rythm guitar playing. I also want to add a bass track for this song.

Striking
This song hit me hard, the vocals were very clear, and the lyrics are perfect. It's a sad story the song is telling, but done very well.

Well Done
