Thanks Joan
The beat bongo thing was subliminal - I wasn't thinking about Ginsberg or
Kerouac when I was doing the music - though I had just spent a week in Frisco.
When I got home I thought about the cadence of Ginsberg speech and how it
would offset the groove. Instant Karma. It's great for breakfast.

Cool Vibes!
Ginsberg & Kerouac themsleves are the KING'S, but making music upon it
is more difficult. You manage pretty good - it's a low-down beat, cool
bass and drums, a great mix. I like the grove and the artistic freedom.

You're right about G and K
Glad you stopped by and checked it out. I wasn't aware of where this was going
when I started it on the plane - I guess the Beat thing seeped in while I was in
Frisco. Ginsberg didn't enter the picture till after I got home and started thinking
about words.

Oh ! That loop !
I used the same loop for my first attempt here with GB3. I understand what you meant in your post in the forum (just because it's a loop doesn't mean you can't cut it, shape, twist it into something all your own). You give me here a great exemple. Super cool song. J'adore ! I going to listen to all your stuff !

Great ears think alike
I noticed that when I heard your track - which I loved by the way. At the bottom of the list is my first GB effort - and I'm still working with GB1. Gotta fix that. Once again - welcome to MJ and thanks for stopping by.

Fugitive thoughts
This is a very cool composition. The multiple layers of it are fun to try to unravel. Even though you know how it was done - that all of the parts are easily-enough recognizable - it somehow holds together as a fused piece.

I love how you weave your own effort at spontaneity, with its word associations and sudden hesitant humorous misdirection, around the point Ginsberg is making (especially that genius is funny). Nothing you say is particularly profound, yet what you say - and how you say it - perfectly underscores the profunity of unpredmediative poetry. It's clever by not being clever! And that absurdity is percipient. Cool.

You don't have to agree with Ginsberg/Kerouac about spontaneous composition to appreciate the value of the concept. Personally, I fall somewhere in between - trying to keep the verve of the original inspiration ... while not working it over too much and killing it with improvements. I guess I find either of the extremes ... boring. But perhaps every artist has to find his or her own creative-comfort zone? The Beats are particularly valuable because they present an distinct alternative to the classical model of honing a piece to perfection.

I also like imagining you working on this piece in mid-flight, that while others around you are reading, watching videos, snacking and snoozing, you seize the opportunity and turn travel-time into a creative moment. That's pretty cool, too.

You completely got it ...
and opened my eyes to some unintentional elements as well. I listened to the Ginsberg piece for inspiration, and then my attempt at spontanaeity was so halfbaked - but hey, that's all I had at the moment - that I decided to weave Ginsberg in after the fact. There were no retakes on me and obviously none on Ginsberg - and actually very little cutting and pasting. It all just sort of happened and that was that. Thanks for pointing out the humorous element - it's always been a favorite quality of many of the Beats.
