Lyrics
The darkness came and drove the light away
When in the garden man did fall.
The glory has departed, we search for it in vain.
We try to find it by ourselves. It only brings us pain.

Man builds his towers reaching to the sky,
but finds his love turns into war;
And as he’s sinking deeper, drowning in his own decay,
you reach out your hand, oh Lord, and bring a better way.

CHORUS
The glory has returned.
Jesus, You bring it back. The glory has returned.
The beauty of what you’ve done has shone in me.
And as I get to know you better in my life,
I’ll let your glory shine through me.

The darkness blotted out the noonday sun
The day the Lord of Glory died.
And all the hosts of darkness laughed, “The glory’s gone for good.”
They thought they could destroy the light upon a cross of wood.

But in the darkness of a death-filled tomb
The light shined brighter than before.
Death swallowed up in victory, the Saviour has returned,
And gives to those who trust in Him the light for which we yearned.

The glory has returned.
Jesus, You bring it back. The glory has returned.
The beauty of what you’ve done has shone in me.
And as I get to know you better in my life,
I’ll let your glory shine through me.

Beautiful and...
honoring of our Lord.... "the day the Lord of Glory died."... ""But in the
darkness of a death-filled tomb, The light shined brighter than before."

Lovely song that expresses an awe-filled heart towards what He has
suffered in our stead, and for what He has accomplished on our behalf.

Thanks...

The core of the message
To me the core of the message of Christ is the awesome glory of the God who IS
perfect love, reflected in the face of Christ. Sad that too many of us preachers
(too often myself included, I'm afraid), try and reduce it to a set of rules and
formulas.

The core
The core of Christian teaching beautifully expressed in one song. When I
started listening I expected quite a mainstream composition, probably
beacuse of the instrumentation, but very soon I found out it was a very
original and equally beautiful composition. Read me right now; I don't
feel that a customary instrumentation is anything wrong (I actually gave
10 points for originality/creativity). Rather I think it is brilliant how you
have made a song that at surface sounds ordinary, but which in its soul
carries high original creativity. In an analogous way I feel that it is a song
with its meek and humble surface, has a explosively powerful core. In
short: Brilliant! (10-9-10-10)

And the lyrics ...
... forgot to mention the lyrics. Same here; simple ordinary words that
expresses the greatest human dilemmas as well as their solution. In just
a few lines you express tons of wisdom. Two lines that especially struck
me (because of first hand experience groing up in a non-religious
surrounding):

The glory has departed, we search for it in vain.
We try to find it by ourselves. It only brings us pain.

Thanks
I too grew up in a non-Christian environment, and those lines indeed express
my own struggle befoe I came to Christ. Looking for what seemed to be answers
but finding only emptiness. When I see how my own kids sometimes take Christ
for granted (growing up as prreacher's kids has its own stresses), I am thankful
for what He allowed me to go through.

Much appreciated
It is one of my goals that my songs teach and not just move the emotions
(Colossians 3:16). am pleased that you saw the content that way.

classic crooner !
dunno why this seems to be in this category
while its a perfect ballad ..or maybe its my
rusty ears ? ..what soothing vocal there ..
great harmony .... the style so catchy ..the strings
works real good ....perfect well done !!

It IS a ballad, yes
The genres thing is always difficult. It is an inspirational ballad. But the
instrumentation is not quite "folk." But maybe it would get more hits under "Folk
Ballad" than under "Inspirational Contemporary"? I don't know. Thanks for the
encouragement in any case!

Wow...
...your best work yet Thomas. Brings to mind Barth's motto (adopted from
the Blumhardts) "Jesus is Victor!" And because He lives, we will live also.
Beautiful paean to the matchless grace of the living God. Well done bro.
Well done!

Thanks!
Jesus IS victor, even when the forces of darkness spit back. My first time to get
more exposure on the rating picks list n, and it looks like I got "5" bombed. lol
Oh well.

Sophisticated
This is a well crafted song with various creative touches. I think you've done a great arrangement here. I was struck by little bits like how the lines of the chorus go from minor to major. That's kinda nifty, and mentally it takes you from the darkness into the light. Very effective.

Wonderful Song!
This is really, really nice! There is such a soothing quality to your voices. It is really evident of Whom you sing to/for just in your tone! The words are just icing. The song comes from within your soul/spirit, and you capture that very well!
