Pretty
I'm reminded of being alone in a park, reflecting on a cloudy, cool,
autumn morning.

Nice washes...
Very pretty flute melody, and the ebb and flow of the piano and strings,
seem to wash time away. Nice dramatic spot for a key change... great
slowing and softening to the end... this is very well thought-out! The
only thing I could imagine improving is in the middle when you have all
the instruments together, it gets a little midrange-heavy and less clear,
the flute almost gets lost. You may want to do a little more separation by
panning instruments apart a teeny bit more, and possibly adding more
low-end bass, boost the brass or cellos a bit to add to the pathos. Wow.
Great stuff!

thank you so much for the feedback... i was basically an emotional wreck when i made this. so some of the details were very likely not quite on. i'll definitely think about your comments here, if or when i remake this... i guess i should - if not only to better capture the moment the way i felt it at the time...

to all of you
thank you very very much for the comments - i really did not expect any feedback here - this was just an outpouring from within me, based on some very strong feelings due to my wife going into surgery.

she is fine now - and this dark cloud is now quickly passing by... so again, thank you for commenting. but really, i just needed to send this musical thought out there, into the vast internet, simply for anyone to possibly hear and feel my state of mind at the time.

my heartfelt thanks to you.

There is a decided tension in this number that draws the listener into the music...in sort of a dark way. Music like this speaks to inner regions of one's being...and it did to me. The structure is supurb, beginning and ending with that plaintive flute and not worrying about making a spash of any sort by resolving chords at the end. It takes courage to conclude like this and you were definitely up to the task... I am personally drawn to music mostly through melody and I think this is the one area where you could spread your winds some in this piece. You kind of get stuck in the middle and have a hard time getting out into the air again. I hope you'll consider doing a little more work on this because the piece itself, even in its present form and recording is compelling. I am glad I listened to it.

Eclectic, at best. I learned some music theory at school, and read a ton about it since. I've listened to lots of music over the years. I once played guitar in an actual garage band and actually got paid to play! Once. Although live performance is an... [see more]
