A most unlikly trio of MJRs, each one contributed equally, I think... - I wonder if you can guess who we are, and what we did... If you happen to know because you were somehow let in on this through the development process, then don't - Eh, eh, eh...

And, no, it doesn't feel quite right asking you to guess 'what's the deal' because for one, you might not care that much - Two, you likely won't guess who we are or what we did in this, however, I'm positive that you'll be suprised -

Although I know that we're all here to learn, I sometimes feel that we're given too many answers right off the bat - Hope I don't seem like a butthead - Just trying to shake things up a bit, while creating a little interactive fun - Thanks again!

eh, eh ,eh
lets see if i turn that around and play it backwards, i would get : he he he. I can't think of anyone who uses that phrasing. This is simply surreal. I was going to say it had everything but the tea kettle whistle but thats there too. Extrodinairy use of sounds. The various synth and fx snippets mesh nicely. The percussion is distinctly signature Macaudion. Very cinematic. The mix is DEEEEP. Makes my little imac speakers shiver. I suspect the other Mj contributor is a keyboardist?

I will Menage a troi...
I mean, I will manage a try at guessing (sorry for the Freudian pun up there)... hmm... 3 of you aye? I was watching this new MacAudion character wondering when a tune would pop up. And this tune definitely has some strong touches that point me at some people. There is a very professional feel to the mixing and arrangement, and a particular laid-back jazzy/bluesy guitar sound that I usually attribute to only a few MJers that I know here. Then there's the overall structure and instrumentation, which has a particularly chaotic influence for some reason, and the percussion is intriguing, oh, and the fractal artwork really tastes familiar too... so, given that you are being coy with your identities, I will have to make a publically embarrassing guess, likely wrong, and hope that I do not offend anyone by choosing or omitting them... but the people I would guess are behind the curtain are: Ziti and/or more likely SoulMonk and/or McBoy, MissChaos, and PerceptualVortex or Cydniko. The prize I'd love to win is an extra month of free time this year to hang out on Macjams and write more music!

Your such a kind soul, Drak - You've said some very nice things here. It's probably time that I let some of the cats outta the bag... - I can tell you that Jgurner is in on it. In fact, JG was the one who wrote/initiated this piece by sending it to me. What he sent was this intense melody being played by the piano, double Xtra bass, I believe it was, and w/ the tympani and synth bass.

When I first heard this, I immediately sent it to the mystery guitarist, thinking that this was perfect for him. I thought that the piece was very contemplative, and that the guitarist tends to play like each of his notes originate from deep thought. So he took it and played guitar all over the top of JG's stuff, and sent it back to me. I spliced and diced, midi'd some fx, added some percussive loops (tablas and shakers), a did use a one or two fx loops that I found - - I don't know if they are loops if you make them yourself or not, or how this works, but I made a bunch of the fx loops --

I can tell you that my part was taking Jgurner and the mystery guitarist parts, and I kinda glued them all together. I did apply a BUNCH of FX to many of the guitar parts. I mean I FX'd everything, and to the point that the MG didn't recognize a lot of his own guitar work.

So for me, it was kind of a kit project. All I had to do was take all of these wonderful pieces and glue them together. I didn't really have to add much to this, but I think that JG disagrees w/ me on this though.

I still don't want to reveal who played the guitar yet, because I'm intrigued by the guesses, thus far.
As honored as I am to be mentioned within the same breath as these folks, I have to say that there was no Misschaos, PV Fran or Soulmonk, -- ummm... okay, maby some heavy influence by Cydniko, but for contractual reasons, he wouldn't have been allowed to do any of the work on this so of course, he didn't --

Now that the cat's ut of the bag....
...and, I've never really figured out exactly why someone would want to have a cat in a bag. It just pisses off the cat and is none too good for the bag. Not to mention the fact that it's pretty cruel to the cat. Cats really don't like to be confined like that....

...but I digress...

The mysterious stranger is right in that I disagree over just how much of a contribution he made. The guitarist and I may have provided the raw material, but he did all the work, forging the raw ores into a finished product. Possibly working deep somewhere underground near the Pacific coast, would be my guess, until he beat the raw, white hot metal into shape, the shape of a ring, but not just any ring - a ring of power, with the ability to control the fate of all the races of Middle Earth....

...wait, what were we talking about again? Sorry, for a minute I tgot MacJams mixed up with Lord of the Rings again. My bad... :)

Seriously, I couldn't be more thrilled with where the others took the simple tune I started with. The guitarist (who was named in a forum, but not here, so I won'd drop the name yet), just did such a wonderful job interpreting the feelings behind the original piece. It's amazing and I'm just happy I had a part in it. Thanks guys for letting me play.

I feel like a latecomer here... been so busy with work, averaging 10 hour days recently and not terribly inclined to sit in front of my computer for leisure time... but I saw you'd posted a tune and had to check it out! And wow, what a cool collaboration! I like how there's big room to carefully consider each element of the song... you have time to walk around and check it out from different angles. My stuff is so dense, and this is a lesson in breaking down to the essense and presenting each voice with clarity.

And what's in here... great rhythms, really beautiful guitar and piano, lovely tones and spaces. Excellent work guys!

Well, now that the cat's out of the bag...
I can jump in here and comment a little...

I knew I couldn't do it before and keep any kind of secret.

Let me just say, first of all, that the original piano and rhythm thing I was sent from D. and jgurner was very inspiring to work to...

And then let me just say that working with Macaudion the Mysterious remains a spiritual apprenticeship for me. I really get challenged on levels I don't like to acknowledge that I even have...

The way it works is, I get the original track. I sit down on a couple of nights and I do about eight tracks of electric guitar. I am chided not to use effects. I play in tempos that I customarily don't 'do'. We arrange an exchange of prisoners. I send the tracks to Dion. Then I wait.

When the "listen to this" tracks start coming back, NOTHING sounds like what I played to. The backing track is changed. The mix is different. New instruments are in it. Things I played along to are gone, but I'm still there, alone... There's some other guitarist on there... Dion assures me that it's me, but, um, edited and altered... I freak out via email. Dion calms me down via email, having the magical ability to make me feel foolish, callow and egocentric and yet, somehow, okay with that... As if 'foolish, callow and egocentric' is why he LIKES me..

Finally I come back to the notion that I didn't do this to end up with music that sounds like everything else that I play or have a hand in... I b'lieve the phrase is, "To let go and let Dion..." Or something like that...

And eventually, after all the drama, I can't wait to hear it posted and I find myself sneaking back for listens. And then I can't wait 'til the next one...

When I can walk across the Internet without tearing the rice paper, THEN I can leave the monastery...

And then, there's you... You make me laugh - You did everything exactly how I hoped you would. And even down to trusting me, about you... You did this piece such beautiful justice - And it was a REALLY inspiring piece to begin with, but this made it all the better - You can put up a stinker of a fight at times, but it shouldn't be that easy for me with this huge amount of freedom that you tend to grant me. However, there is those many peices that no one but you and I have heard... One day...

	Mellow Like lying out in the desert in the evening after a hot day and a cool, breeze comes over you. Sorta started sounding a bit like Ennio Morricone & his Italian Western soundtrack work towards the end. Very nice. PS. I'm pretty sure none of you are Ennio. ;)

The title could mean "encountering disillusionment" -- something we all can relate to, I suspect -- or "becoming disillusioned with meetings%u2026" :-)

I don't really hear anything like disillusionment here, though; I just hear beautiful music, kind of mellow, trippy, laid-back, and very cool. I'm very impressed. This is high quality stuff.

Why am I writing this? What does it have to do with the music? I wouldn't know. Does it matter? This music is what it is.

I had to read through most of the comments and still I had no clue who you guys where... except for maybe the man in the mixing department..:)

Haven't heard Ejh playing the guitar like that before, and I'm very impressed. The base from jgurner is very creative, though I don't know what the first take would have sounded like before mr. D. got his hands on it.

Very Nice Guitar!
Really lovely guitar playin' a nice smooth build but not too much and a sweet little drum roll near the end. It makes me feel like I'm somewhere else, in a nice place. This is really a beautiful and relaxing mix and love the way that nothing over-rides the strings.
