A good friend wanted me to sing my own version and vocal style of her favorite holiday song "O Holy Night" using this karaoke background. It is very humbling to post this alongside the masterpieces from Ms Chaos and Thetiler among others, but what's a nice guy supposed to do but say yes! :)
I've been missing in action for the past few months, and so sorry for this rather un-original submission, although I should say there was a lot of effort put into the vocal arrangements to make it sound unique... I've just been too busy to come up with something new lately. Nonetheless, here's wishing merry Christmas to all the great musicians at Macjams!

O Holy Night Lyrics
The words and lyrics of the old carol 'O Holy Night' were written by Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure in 1847. Cappeau was a wine seller by trade but was asked by the parish priest to write a poem for Christmas. He obliged and wrote the beautiful words of the hymn. He then realised that it should have music to accompany the words and he approached his friend Adolphe Charles Adams(1803-1856). He agreed and the music for the poem was therefore composed by Adolphe Charles Adams. Adolphe had attended the Paris conservatoire and forged a brilliant career as a composer. It was translated into English by John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893).
*I Googled this information and was surprised to learn that the lyrics of the the modern version we hear make up only one third of the complete poem which this song was based on. Maybe, I should make another version using the lyrics from the un-used second and third verses, or place them in some of the intermission/breaks here.
