Description
It's Sunday night and after reading reading your comments and pullin out the guitar here's What's Happenin II. Thanks for the encouragement to take this a step further. The lyrics I found online by googling "Mingus poetry" and coming across this poem on a blog by Tourette Mingus, a Canadian author to whom I am now deeply indebted.I don't think Mingus wrote poetry - but I liked the idea as a starting point. Thanks Tourette.

Lyrics
February 28th, 2005
After A Weekend Like That

waking up on the Sante Fe delight
with a beer hangover

which feels fine
to start with

but likes to rake the gonads
as the day moves forward

walking home
past the Jewish temple
and the abandoned liquor store

all the cars covered in street dust
after a long winter

bright sun
showing off the grey and brown

and everyone
from the man pushing his grocery cart
to the happy young condo shoppers

they all move like set pieces

this town
wearing the collar of rust
it can't shake

wow, thats fast
great addition on the vocals. man you got soul. funny thing is i was in the middle of recording and took a break. the program is still on and the guitar is in a clean funky rythmn setting. so i'm listening through the headphones and start playing a funky rythm along with the song. great jammimg with ya!

Geesh EB - happy to shake an image up
for ya - don't know if I wanna follow the one in the peep booth though. I'm on the fence with this bigtime - a little too lite FM for my taste - but every song has it's way with me - and I can't seem to control it.
Guess I'll call it "id music"

LIke it
I like the easy groove you have put together here and have always been a fan of the big "chorused guitar" sound.
Perfect mix for this groove too.

thanks for posting this.

Glad you like it
the guitar sound is the Deep Jazz setting in GB3 I think. I played it with the heavy fuzz setting and then swithced over afterwards, which is kind of interesting - cause I play a certain way based on the sustain and effect - then it sounds less like me when I switch voices.

very interesting how the vocals transform this into another song. it's just as cool as the other one, but from a different angle. thanks!

Strong work Bud
what a great piece to put to this music. Words fit this northeastern/midwest identity confused post-industrial town that I'm in. Fine job on the whole piece. I'll be hummin' "It can't shake" for the next few hours;) I like the bass groove. I'd jam with ya if I could borrow EJH's tamborine for a few minutes.
