Realize the Silence

Description
Sometimes the answer is in silence. Just stop. Vocals sampled from some waves in the air. I asked God for permission and he said OK. I think they tell the story pretty well. Cease.

God reps some pretty awesome talent
lucky he took your call. Great production on this - cool textures, tones , shifts and mayhem. I like the ebb and flow of the energy and mix. well done.

samples
Thanks, the only samples used are the preachers vocals.

All the other sounds are "samples" created from me playing. Guitar synth, bass, guitar, real cymbals etc. Oh, sorry and the drums are a machine...

Groove!!
This is a really groovey tune, with a nice dark undertone. This is very different to your other tracks, Phil (at least the ones I'm aware of), but I love this ... it's quite disturbing!

fantastic production too - love the bass and drums, they really ground the track.

Really great work

groovey
Thanks echo,
I aspire to your level of production!

I tend to end up in the darkness no matter how I try. I love minor chords. I tend to think preachers have a tendency to end up in the darkness too a lot of times. This one did. You can hear it in his voice. If you like the groovey ones, some of my others here are:

"Beauty & Pain" and "Snatch" and "SpyMaster"

all from the sampled vocal-dancey genre- some happier than others.

This is not my beautiful silence...
Silence. Just what I need to hear, or hear about, tonight...

You're one of the guys around here with 'serious wit'.

I really like this, like what it says and what it does...

Interesting phased or flanged drum sounds....

Listening as I write..
I'm quite taken with the weird about sounds you make on the guitar opposite the rhythm. And yeah it certainly accents the silence after the word 'cease'.Intriguing - almost like an art piece - conceptual,I like that.

diggin it
Like the sermon in the background. Of course the bass line is my favorite. good contrasting guitars. A push ahead!

unfit
Listening to yur stuff keeps me from getting too stuck up on the production and making everything perfect. I'm listening to "unfit" as I write this. Man, you take chances I wish I had the balls to. Inspiring. Plus it's good to hear you just talking--your accent makes me miss Park Slope and the ol' hood in Blyn--even miss the f*ckin' (F) train......

My favorite...
... of the 3 songs you posted, buy that doesn't mean I did'nt like the others. Problably not going to suprise you, as you may have a clear idea now of what are my musical tastes. I like chaos, repetition, great basses, things uncommon. And you are perfectly good at it when you want to do so. Great track, Phil, and very good job as well for the 2 others one.
Cheers, matey !

chaos
Youra, Thanks dude.

Yeah I got an idea what you dig. I love chaos, driving basses, the unexpected, too. I end up on the dark side a lot.

Problem is I also love a repetitious lovey-dovey pop song with cool hooks, great harmonies and top production. I'm a yin and a yang, a walking contradiction. keeps me havin fun. why be tied down?

..all to often i get a talk radio coming through the monitors. i don't think that "voice" would be into this industrial piece..but screw 'em i' m diggin' it.

industrial
Vic. Yeah, I hadn't thought of this piece as industrial, but I think you're right. I guess I just get frustrated with that mondo drop-down menu and just pick and easy one from the top "art rock"....a great catch-all for me...

This is a great song racerat, kinda David Byrn's/Talking heads-ish, which is a real good thing. I enjoyed everything about this, excellent sound!

Hey Michael, I don't know this Marr dude. I'll have to check him out. If you like this you also might like "Snatch (collab w/ Sonny Jim)" or "Pain & Beauty" 2 of my other sampled vocal things. Ciao, P

oh
you know Johnny Marr; he was the guitar player in the Smiths. Even if you can't stand Morrissey, there is no denying what an incredible player Marr is. And your backing guitar reminds me of something he would do, or a sound he would use. Really tasty playing (on your song). I will check out those other songs; takes me a while to work through peoples catalogs.

neat song
Kind of U2 meets Talking Heads, I think. This most certainly isn't my beautiful life, if you get my drift. I like the bits where the guitars start to go a little outa control in the back.
