Description
Thanks for tuning in to this LIOLI #3 entry - and thanks to Chikoppi for picking some truly funky loops. That said - this is not a traditional funk number. No surprise I guess - given an opening, subversion is just too tempting. Besides the Bandmate loops (I used three of the four) everything else you hear are GB loops.

Interesting sound
This is definitely one of the cooler LIOLI3 entries I've heard. Can't put my finger on why I like it so much, but it was done well.

Cheers for subversion!
We can never have too much of it on MacJams or especially in LIOLI. Surprised to hear everything in here is loops -- I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said so. Awesome, freaky, nervy entry you got here.

Deconstructing Henry
Love your illustration, a perfect reflect of deconstruction perfectly surrounded by the lush and strange syncopated funky experience. Feel i'm slowly walking in a torrid jungle with mechanical moves, strangely contrasting with urban atmosphere.
Love the flute, poping out in great moment of tension. And vibraphone ! Recalls me when I first heard "The Man" by "Patto".
Excellent, bud. Your call for subversion as maybe not yield a revolution, but certainly a great deconstruction. Long Live Funk !

Thanks for all your comments
I've been too busy listening to all the other entries to keep up with replies. This was a fun challenge - they always are. I had no idea Henry Mancini was living in my computer.

iron works
you put the low crunch in the loop part, then when the keys came in to the detective arena... well, from then on we all were looking over our shoulders

'secret, a....gent MAN!'

nice work here bud.

Nice
I love that recurring crunch... so many nice touches. I enjoyed listening to each turn.

Thanks -
the crunch is the "barn door" sound effect in the GB3 cinematice loops - edited and tweaked and mixed with a car starting effect. I wanted to build a rhythm track without any drums.

Were you reading my music background?
The last time I had an MRI I actually fell asleep. I think it was a flashback to nights passing out listening to Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. Thanks for your comment and for your contribution to the challenge.

cool as a cat
i like the transitions through different moods - it's always way cool, but it changes location somehow - maybe like a cat making its rounds - that works great.

i really enjoy the non percussion instruments - nice job.

movie magic
Nice job. This is a candidate for a movie soundtrack for sure. You ought to let John Sayles listen to your stuff:

Amazing...
This is also one of my fav pieces. Very atmospheric... 70s movie, blistering hot afternoon, junkyard, hidden danger, pastrami on rye, blistering hot night, dangerous women, machines...

Wow. Excellent job.

Esquivel
Esquivel and Mancini are walking down a very dark alley and they get jumped by Rob Zombie, Quentin Tarantino and David Lynch. This is the sountrack.

campin in caves, with chains
the bass and guitar tones are WILD ass good. I see caves, and chains. Lots of industrial sonics permeating the space. the piano and flute section was gorgeous. Lots of spiffy cameos with the outtdoor sounds and vibes comin in.
