Description
This is a 'classic Mystified' song in the tradition of ambient vox and piano.

I actually composed it several months ago and included it as the title track on a CD I gave out for Christmas gifts in December. The CD was a compilation of my more meditative and tranquil music.

As with most of my recent songs, I've invited Bryn to remix this one, and look forward to hearing what it becomes...

Enjoy! :)

Another one...
... where I can almost hear the words...

I think it's neat that a number of my favorite MacJammers are following a sort of dual path, in which, on the one hand, they explore their 'classic' musical persona, the one that they enjoy and are good at and that people recognize as them most readily, and on the other, they are exploring other avenues and modes of expression, stepping out of the expected... Makes the nice surprises on the second path very exciting and eye opening, while making the return to the first path into nice 'homecoming' moments...

Gee, you might let the rest of us buy it next Christmas...

Thanks, Ed :)
I appreciate the listen and the comments here.
It has, indeed, been very rewarding to me to explore other avenues of ambient and experimental music. And I'll always come back to these more traditional styles that are based in my classical training, I'm sure.

It's been one of the more thrilling 'discoveries' of vocal music this second time around--really using my voice as a versatile instrument, and seeing just what it can do.

Thanks, again for stopping by :)

What Ed said!
I seem to be following Ed to a whole number of songs today! Very Enya in style and feel - I enjoy listening to Enya a lot - especially late at night, and this would certainly fit the bill for a nightcap song to accompany a glass of something red and thick (in the wine department I mean). I am always amazed at the thought you must put into layering your tracks. Very nicely done Mysti.

Enya...
Yes...yes. Enya has definitely been an influence. I used to wonder how she created such music/sounds when I listened to her CDs.

But I never would have guessed that a freebie computer program like GarageBand would get me singing and recording one day, myself.

I'm glad you took the time to leave a comment here--thanks so much, Neil :)

Thanks, Kenta, for your kind words!

I did mean for this to be positive and uplifting, and I'm glad you heard that here :)

Lovely
This piece is a very pleasing combination of contemplative piano and ethereal, soaring vocal harmonies.

There seemed to be just a hint of "chorus" effect on the piano, which created an atmospheric gauze enveloping the sound.

Lovely.

Yes...yes there is...
....a hint of chorus effect on the piano.

Good ear, Cameron! :D

I added it to set the piano 'back' a bit and have it float alongside the vox.
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting--it means a lot coming from a fellow classical musician/composer :)

Spatial
This is the kind of song that allows the mind/spirit to wander. It reminds me of a dream I had where I was standing in a busy market inside a cathedral that was built out of sticks, and driftwood.I looked up and the architecture was spiralling away into infinity.Gradually I beagan to see what I took to be angels sailing down in slow motion from the cosmos - they turned out to be sort of eco-warrior type women with long multicoloured dreadlocks.I have some weird dreams.Beautiful piano, lovely voice, very colourful track for me in my little universe!

Beautiful!
Wonderful!

And what paddler said.. :)

Beautiful melody nicely played
and sung. The piano has nice parlor quality - very intimate. Is it a miced piano as opposed to electronic?
My only crit would be to give the piano more room at times - or more prominence - just for a change within the piece. That said - a wonderful track - glad I stopped by.

Haunting
I don't know how come I always seem to come late to the party, but I'm glad I finally made it. I mean it as a true compliment when I say that this is the kind of music where the melody and chords don't seem to matter as much as the energy and inspiring, uplifting atmosphere it creates. There is just no substitute for the human voice (no matter how much midi geeks like me try to impress;) in terms of moving you emotionally and spiritually. What a charming and wonderful piece of music!

another
beautiful piece of music. your voice sounds so perfect for this; it's the effect I've been trying to get with a theremin for years (to no avail). really perfect piece.
