Lyrics
Raining The Blues

Well I was drifting in between the late and early
Trying to figure out how it all began
Well I'd been sifting through the dreams left by the wealthy
2 Shoes could make me rich as any man
It was a sunny morning as I walked along
Sunset Boulevarde a lifetime away
When I heard a voice a calling me like indigo
She said hey boy what you doin think that we can make it work
She said:-

I've got it - You want it
Dont that make me bad
I said youve got it - I want it
Woah I must be mad
Its not the big things that you say
Its the little things you do
Then she took me down to hell
And it aint on fire
- Its raining the blues....

There was only one thing on my mind
Until she told me
I'd lose my soul my loving her,,
The moon was rising dogs were howling down the alley
I can't remember what thats worth
But it was only time, keeping track of time
While she was having the time of her life
But I was thinking now its really getting late
I said 'I think I'd better go' she said 'Sit DOWN AND WATCH THE SHOW!!' She said:-

I've got it - You want it
Dont that make me bad
I said youve got it - I want it
Woah I must be mad
Its not the big things that you say
Its the little things you do
Then she took me down to hell
And it aint on fire
- Its raining the blues....

You can laugh at the morning but I'll be with you till the end of time...
Lost my head with no warning
Well it wouldnt mean a thing if you crowned me for a king for day..

I would crawl through the darkeness to reach you..

Silverfish
Did you know that in Britain 'silverfish' are what you get when there is too much damp in your carpet - like wierd little critters that run around the floor.Perhaps you caught something different.Thank you for listening Helena

what a great track!
love the piano and the organ parts. they, and the drums really inspire a nice, soulfull groove. it has a wonderful vibe, great vocal, too.
i love the piano solo. it has so much feeling in it! i wish it were 8 bars longer, though

THanks Faelin
thanks - I was a bit rusty on the drums - slightly lagging a bit here and there,I know what you mean about the piano bit though it could be longer - it kind of grooves up a bit more there.A pleasure to meet you though sir - I shall no doubt be heading your way soon for a musical mooch

man, you got the soul. Nice concept and execution. The instrumental portion sounds tasty. Cool B3 work on the fills. Did you do this track by track? way cool

Great blues tune here Paddler
Love the feel of this, it's like sitting in some funky bar listening to some unknown blues band belting out a song about what's going on all around you in the bar.

Great production, good solid blues background, and some mighty fine singing. My only suggestion would be to add just a touch of reverb and maybe a very slight echo to the vocal.

All in all, a great piece, I love it

piano and vocals
The piano is classic! I love it. I like the vocals as well. The vocals have a very stylish feel with character.

To me
it seems more Stax then Motown. Good vocals and soul feel throughout.
I think soul is more introspective and you catch that - rather then a lot of singers that confuse volume with soulfulness. I think of Otis Reddings Sittin' on the dock of the bay as a quinessential soul tune with it's refelective emotion.
Good work.

I played it for my wife
She likes it but says you need the three soul back-up singers to complete the sound :-)
