Lyrics
once upon a time
dancing on a dime
love was there for the choosing

it may be circumstance
but given half a chance
we would love without losing

the heartbreak is gone, the love remains - the love remains

tap your feet in time
if you're past your prime
let your destiny play you

baby place your bet
it's not over yet
you could make it your debut

the heartbreak is gone, the love remains - the love remains

open up inside
there's no place to hide
let the feeling come to you

you've been marking time
searching for the rhyme
while the meaning eludes you

the heartbreak is gone, the love remains - the love remains........

nice!
great song, arrangement, mixing, playing, singing, I could go on. Is that the mellotron plug in that you get from M-Audio? Also, how did you record the guitars?

thanks!
yeah, the flutes and the legato strings are the mellotron plug in. I can't praise it enough. I have about 100 of the soundbanks. Those are the Strawberry Fields flutes from the MK II mellotron. I have to resist putting them on everything!

the guitars were recorded straight in garageband using their preset sounds. I start off with a preset and modify it to the sound I want and then save it out as a custom sound. I have a lot of saved starting points saved up now to speed up the process. thanks for listening!

Sweet vocal bed
Great tune Brian. You never disappoint. The vocal break in the middle was stunning. So well balanced, layered and rich. Tasty.

da radio
as in this should be on it. The break is brilliant. Man how do these passages come to you? in visions? wow, thats incredible. Beatles, TFF, XTC, hooks you could drive a bus through. Love it.

thanks!
thanks for the nice words. actually, I just make it up as I go along. I edit a lot - cut and paste, chopping up bits, etc., until I get an arrangement I like - then I overdub like crazy! heh heh.

thanks for listening!

great song
You have a real songwriting talent there. The guitars reminded me a little of Rush. It's amazing the tone you can get from the basic gb soundbank. Have you tried amplitube or guitar rig? good stuff!

guitar
are those programs? I don't even own an amp at the moment, that's why I use the internal gb sounds. I live in an apartment too. my downstairs neighbors complain if I get rambunctious!

thanks for listening!

yep
those are both plug ins which allow you to set up virtual amps with more control than the gb presets - you can even set up virtual microphones etc! See:

I have the cut down version of amplitube, which is still pretty good, but I lust after the software version of guitar rig...

Nothing dumb
Thought it had a Elliott Smith sound. Great pop-rock song. You're a very good sound writer, man. Nice Beatle influence.
