Description
Wrote this on the fly in 2005 with my brother Andrew VanDusen who did the vocals. A dark and moody track that somehow kinda grows on you.

Lyrics
Shroud
Andrew VanDusen ©2005
I really can’t describe
The blackness in my mind
That I don’t seem to see
If darkness were a shroud
I’d carry it out loud
And walk around in a shoulder length
Big blond wig
I hope for something new
Something light and bright and blue
Maybe a new sunrise
Just wish I could find
Coming up inside
The wish, a compromise
But it’s all too fleeting for me
To put my finger on
It isn’t ever over
And I run, run rover
To the girls with the flaming hair
And in mounting something lame
It always stays the same
Where do you place that’s where
Passions have I know
In attempts to stay alone
But up on the moon I stare
Fix my eyes
I could pray that price
So gratified
Tender Venus lies
So appreciated
I can see you if I squint my eyes
Up on the moon
Would you just wave

Hi

Ed Hannifin
...that this song can start out with such a relentlessly distorted guitar sound, and then find its way to such an almost-pop melody. Great vocal. The lyrics are surprisingly romantic. There's a lot of yearning in this one.
I am always surprised, and surprised in a good way, by the depth and range of what you do. Another good one.
