Second song
Hi guys, here is the second song from Naseer. I can't seem to do the magic that you can Neil as I only have GB and I have tried all night to make it sound clearer.

I have just excepted the fact that it is of poor sound quality and i will have to get him in the studio to record it properly when the time is right.

There is no denting it though, it is pretty awesome. I am stoked with it.

I brought him into my office today and showed him some footage, your edition Neil, which I will post tomorrow and all of your comments. He was speachless!

Please keep coming in and leaving posts because you are making a man very happy here in Iraq. All of your posts are helping him see that we are all about seeing good come from this torn country.

God Bless you all.

Another good'un
Similar problems and similar positives on this one. Excellent playing, but the recording's a bit noisy. The studio idea would work (although I suspect you might need to get some of Nasseer's family and friends in so it's not too clinical). This could be lifted more than the first tune I think - the rhythm guitar seems to be in better tune or something.
I'd be really happy to help out with final mixing etc however you end up doing this - if you need help that is (although I guess c4rson will probably be able to do that)!
Cheers,
Neil

Nice!
Great music Naseer! I think it goes beyond cultural music and mixes the best from a lot of different cultures

Cheers guys
I agree totally with you Neil. I actually think the noise in the back ground is more to do with the air conditioner playing along with the guys playing the guitar. In some of the other footage, I have identified that as the cause.

Thanks for your offer of help Neil, it means a lot, you are a true gentleman. If you are willing to take this one as it is and produce the same quality as you did the first mate, then it is all yours to do so with. I loved what you done with the first one, it has made me want more software for my powerbook. It has made me realise that I have to trade my powerbook in and get a new Mac Pro actually!

There is no immediate rush for the final track as I have three weeks to do this.

Thanks for your time Neil.

What a surprise!
Your man Naseer has a great tune going there - it's got bits from everywhere going on, but my instant reaction is that is would also sit well within a piece of modern pop as well as being a stand-up track in it's own right (and I suppose in the situation, even doing that would no doubt carry political implications).

That's one of the tell-tale signs of a tune that endures - can it be transformed into a different setting and not lose its power? I bet this would work well as a dance track or in mainstream pop, if sampled in places.

This is not to say that it needs to be done. It's a stunning piece as it is (even with the technical limitations). All in my humble opinion...

Take care

Cheers jim
This piece, has been recorded for the first time by a camcorder and in time, when I get the opportunity I will set up, with the limited gear I have here, a better recording environment and see what I can get. Then make moves to do just as you are saying.

Thanks as always for your support Jim.
