Gritty Hey Len - this is a weird one - the music is pretty up tempo and rockin, whereas the vocals are quite restrained but intense - reminds me very much of Ian Curtis (joy Divisipn). This adds a really great tension to the track - your voice really grew on me as the track played. This does sound like a jam, but with a little work on the structure, you'll have one kickin' track. Nothing wrong with depressing words ... I really like the structure here with the wild wah guitar. The song has quite a kick to it. Just reading your reply to Steve's comment ... I think it's the curse all singers face that we think our voices sound awful. I don't much like mine a lot of the time and I only ever hear the faults in it. Your voice has a dark and coolly deadpan quality to it (er ... that's meant to be a compliment) which suits the style of song that you write really well, so just have a little faith in it and remind yourself that others won't hear it as negatively as you do! Old School feel With the raw voice, wah, and up-front live sounding drums this has a very late 60s early 70s vibe. Still my favorite period in rock music (Maybe because I was back in high school then). As for the depressing words, it's not me, but it's not just you either. That was a very nice surprise Chris - very pleased you liked it. It was very much just an improvised jam. I have recently re-mixed it and it sounds a bit beefier now. It's a shame that we can't just overwrite these songs with newer versions. It's not worth re-posting. Will listen to yours' a bit later, after work.
