Lyrics
Keep the devil off of Joseph's back
can you help us if you please,
Keep the devil off of Joseph's back
& leave this soul at ease.

We've been wanderin' round here, lost for day's
In this Mass of humanity,
Night time travel is the best you know,
copper's can't see through the shade.

Lifetimes have come & gone
while JackFrost remains the same,
Snow White dancin' in the middle of July,
tommorrow's just another day.

Keep the devil off of Joshua's back
is what I'm sayin' to you,
Keep the devil off of Joshua's back
so we can play for you.

~Music~

Keep the devil off of Joseph's back
won't ya help us if you please,
Keep the devil off of Joseph's back
set our minds at ease.

We've been wanderin' thru this moonlight,
Travelin' for day's,
We've developed many subtleties...
Daylight travel is the brightest you see,
copper's can't see thru the haze.

Lifetimes are up & upon us now
When JackFrost stakes his claim,
Snow White dancin' in the middle of July,
ain't it a cryin' shame.

Keep the devil off of Joshua's back
Is what were singin' too you,
Keep the devil off of Joshua's back,
so we can play for you...

great guitar playing
Enjoyed the rhythmic feel of this. There seemed to be a distracting minor mixing issue with the singing, either a minor attack-pop, or some compression that was through most of the song. The song felt like it needed a chorus to break it up a little, and the ending got cut off on the recording. But those are fairly minor issues. Nice lyrics, they flow well through the song. Overall, very listenable.

100 degrees today
and no ice cubes. wheres jack frost when you need him.

I like the held back restraint with steady drive. The vocals really dominate here.
Really nice

Great job
Great. Really enjoyed this one. Interesting lyrics, has a Pixies feel to it musically at the beginning.
Think something else should be done vocally.
Also, agree with drakonis with the chorus comment, it could use one.
But, love the guitar break!

I didn't want to offend Drak or you, but, the chorus is already there fellas, "Keep the Devil off of Joseph's/Josh's back" only 1 take, with music and vocals, hope you understand, thanks for the listen and comments, glad you liked it.

no offense taken...
but I'll clarify what I meant... there is almost no difference between the "sound" of the music in the main section and in the chorus, it runs together... that's why I didn't hear it as a chorus. So, I would suggest doing something more dramatic during the chorus to make it sound different... have more people sing harmony during the chorus section, or change the melody to be more unique, or have fewer/more instruments playing, change the drum pattern a lot, etc. That will create a noticeable break, and make the song even more interesting. That is what I *meant* to say :-) Hope this is a helpful idea.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Studio
Listened to both versions. I think I like this better. You are able to keep the soul of your song and add the sonic clarity that comes from the studio. Neat lyrics! Thanks for sharing both versions.

Chain gang
Really interesting track, has a real chain gang/ chant feel to it. It pounds along nicely like the guitar break. The vox sound a tad muddy, but everything else sits really well. Great, evocative lyrics - give a real sense of mystery.

Nice work
