Lyrics
The minstrel boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you'll find him
His father's sword he hath girded on
And his wild harp slung behind him
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard
"Tho' all the world betrays thee
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again
For he tore its chords asunder
And said "No chains shall sully thee
Thou soul of love and brav'ry
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!
The minstrel boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you'll find him
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!
In the ranks of death you'll find him
His father's sword he hath girded on
And his wild harp slung behind him
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard
"Tho' all the world betrays thee
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again
For he tore its chords asunder
And said "No chains shall sully thee
Thou soul of love and brav'ry
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!
The minstrel boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you'll find him
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!

I like the infectuous groove you have going here. This minstrel may be going off to war, but I feel he's initially at least whistling while marching down the road. Halfway, the mood turns it bit more ominous with the somewhat military drums. Having the beat drop out under the final lines is a good way of emphasizing them. Here really less is more.
Your processing on Richard's vocals is perfect for this arrangement. The fact that the vocal is not all the way in the front of the mix gives a strange character to the song, as if life (and even death) are not all that serious. Intriguing.
Cool work.
