Imagine the scene.

A coffee in a biker's cafe with a stunning waitress, a tatooed biker chick in pink mini-skirt and long black hair.

You fantasise about running away with her but then reality intrudes. This isn't Hollywood. She probably lives in a damp basement flat and her only escape is to look like the "heroine" in a Meatloaf video.

Then again, what if you're wrong?

If Echoroom hears this then I'd love him to give it a go.

Words and melody by my songwriting partner Richard Marris who played guitars and left the rest to me :-)

It started as a discordant grunge number and I'm not sure how we ended up with this.

drips with gothic pink...
This is quite fun gothic fantasy, actually... very cool music writing, good singing, awesome guitar playing ideas. This is a sleeper... however it is waiting to awaken and be a total powerhouse piece, I can taste it. So, what does it need? It needs BorisLuxx to come in and work some additional magic on the already good synth-ideas, tweak the voicing and choices a bit there to make this thing skulk and sneer... then you have a great voice on this, but possibly some minor embellishments in the voice line, such as a little more emotion and sliding in the singing, and maybe a harmony backup voice in the chorus? I like the lyrics too. This is very good already, and for some reason it feels like it could be huge. But we'll wait for other opinions :-)

I would love anyone to give this a tweak or two and would certainly welcome another vocal :-)

I'm not a technician so anywone who can tweak these sounds to be better would be very welcome.

I loved the lyrics as well but I just don't have the knowledge of this style to be able to really get it going.

Impressed
The synth style and the way it blends with the guitars is incredibly evocative and makes the smell of petrol and perfume very real. As well as teleporting the listener back to 1981, with those different layers of electropop and hard rock fused together into something really original which transcends genres. This is really very, very good. It has depth and earthy realism and perfect poise between the two. I can appreciate how fantastic it would sound with Steve's vocals but have to say you did a pretty good job of it yourself.

I have to agree with Drakonis, that "for some reason it feels like it could be huge." As I was listening I found myself wondering whether you're really a famous artist having a laugh by going incognito as a MacJams guitar god and I'm still racking my brain trying to guess who.

The ending is inspired!

Great track Dick
Not really Electropop for me - the first thing that came to mind for some reason was Magazine circa "Second Hand Daylight", there's something very bleak, dark (English?) about this. I hear Permafrost in this.

Steve Echoroom's voice would certainly suit - but there's something about your own voice which works really well here. I like the fact that you sing in an English accent for a start (I battle the urge to sound like I'm from Noo Yawk all the time), but you have the song that suits the voice. I agree with Drakonis that you could probaly (I'd say) "ham" the voice up a bit - but it's a minor point.

I didn't consciously sing in an English accent for this (I do on many of my other songs) so I'm pleased it camre through.

Yes there is a lot of work that could be done on this. It was an experiment from my point of view that needs someone who understands synths bettter than me. I just pick swirly sounds :-)

that you wouldnt sing in a english accent ....I never think about what my vocals sounds like to other countries ears .Im sure Ive got an accent of some sort to people from england hmmmmm this has always interested me... linguistics are fascinating .So were you trying for an American accent ? .....Anyway the song is very well done not my cup o tea really but I appreciate it on a production level for sure ...the lyrics are well placed and the poetry is great . The instruments are all well placed in the mix nice jam man.

You really are a 25 year old guitar god. Thanks to that witch, maybe you'll always be one. This is stellar in every way, production, writing, musicianship, vocal. I can definitely picture a Steve version of this, but yours is excellent, don't sell yourself short.

P.S. I noticed that you said something about having the Voices Jam Pack elsewhere. I've been going nuts trying to find demos of it online without much luck (except thetiler's song). So, if you post something here that uses it, I'd be very interested in hearing it.

Thank you very much.

It's not my normal style (do I have one?) and I struggled with the phrasing (especially that first verse) so it's great to get some positive feedback :-)

I haven't really had a chance to do anything with the Voices yet but I have to say I'm not that initial impressions aren't brilliant.

A lot of loops which are very good but not a lot of use to me. Far too smooth and sophisticated :-) The choirs don't sound too bad though and the vocal "instruments" might be useful for effect (I used a choir and 2 voice samples at the end of this). The jury's out out the moment and I need a bit of time to get my head round what it will do.

	An electrifying ... ... and floating electropop song (or maybe future pop; but i would sort it under the first genre) that partly reminds me of the Norwegian band "Apoptygma Berzerk. I like the contrasting rocking guitar parts and the variation of the drums in the last measure, which could be a bit more impulsive (and harder) to my ears. fully british
as a lifelong american ( although from california, which should not be considered american sometimes...) , i love hearing the basic rock elements and electropop sounds blended with deft brilliance. this is something i feel the british have been able to succeed in on so many levels. alot of u.s. bands and artists have tried, but cannot achieve the feel of european synth pop... this track is great as is.. smooth transitions, subtle drum tracks, and the guitar work is killer.. just enough british steel...the synths are simple, and that is the way it should be. i think it captures the mood better than a really busy set of keys... it is dark yet not... you know? 10's all the way round...i gotta get me to england....

For some reason this reminds me of certain PSB songs. Except they wouldn't be singing about a motorcycle *girl*, but that's beside the point. This song should really be a synth orgy. You're doing all right here, but it should be more over the top. It's already great material, now you simply need to think: More! More! More! Of course keep the guitar parts. Although maybe there should be more of them :-)

Good track Dick!
Really like what you've done - personally, although Steve's voice would work, I think yours is perfect. The inflections of the accent make the vocal. Everything else about this really works too ... except (I do listen closely to this area) .... the bass. It kind of seems lost in the mix to me - now that could be my rapidly deteriorating headphones (or my equally rapidly deteriorating hearing), but maybe a new bass track would help. This might best be a synth bass track, and BorisLuxx might be able to do a job on it for sure. If you wanted a real bass, I'm certainly interested.

Bloody terrific post Dick - easily your best yet. Love the vocals (and the guitars).

This has a particular reasonance with me - I met my wife Deb due to the fact we both own identical 1979 motorcycles!

But back to the tune...I can feel the moment, the smell of the air in the bar and the play of light on her leather vest. (You didn't mention that detail, but... well, there ya go) And that question... behind the fantasy, who is she? By day, every day?

Your voice is fine and works perfectly. Make no mistake, Steve would put his own distinctive zing on this and would be great, but your quiet, wistful tone gives it an element of shy, worship-from-afar, almost-afraid infatuation that really gives it strength and blood.

Just amazing!

Yes, the leather vest. As it was written by a non-biker they probably missed that bit ;-) Behind the fantasy is what this is all about. If she really was so exotic what was she doing working in a bikers' cafe? Discuss....

Thanks for the thumbs up about the voice. I wasn't sure and thought that Steve would make a much more convincing job of it. I still think that but it's nice to get some positive feedback :-)

My own 1979 bike was a Honda CB750. Heavy, handled like a rubber pig and was surprisingly slow.

One old mans opinion
This is not a style of music I am used to. That's because I was born 22 days after D-Day. That said. I was drawn to the ebb and flow of this piece of music. It is very moving musically and the lyrics paint a picture in the minds eye that is haunting and yet compelling. An Excellent piece of work.

Not being familiar with the genre, I hesitate to offer suggestions, but here goes anyway. Pull the vocal forward just a touch to bring it out of the mix. Also you might try using a rock organ sound like a hammond B3 in the higher registers as a counter point to the rich deep pads you are using. Maybe with just a touch of echo to it. Not as a pad though but as a strategic chord hit here and there to accent and define the changes throughout the song.

Like I said I don't know this kind of music, but I know what I like and I like it a lot. I'd like it a lot more with these changes if they were used sparingly and correctly.

Great work, keep at it "PLEASE" you're very good.
