Description
#25 in my song-a-week-for-a-year project. This recording violates my self-imposed limitation of not recording anything I've done before. I'd originally recorded this in 2001 for my first CD with my wife Eshinee. Esh and I had been talking about re-recording some of our songs which we thought we could do better now and this is one of those. We're joined by Mike Watkins (aka kevmikwa) on drums. Mike was wonderful to work with. I was so inspired by Mike's drumming that I went back and recorded new guitars.

Lyrics
You cool me like the rain upon the earth;
you sooth me like a fire in the hearth.
You fill that place
where the lonely heart resides
and you move me
like the moon over the tides.
Like sunlight, breaking through a cloudy day, you warm me even when you're far away
and I feel your spirit
near me in the night
and you move me
like the moon over the tides.
I look to the time
when I'll always have you near,
in reality as in the best of dreams.
I hope you'll find me worthy
to stand by your side because you move me, you move me
like the moon over the tides.
you sooth me like a fire in the hearth.
You fill that place
where the lonely heart resides
and you move me
like the moon over the tides.
Like sunlight, breaking through a cloudy day, you warm me even when you're far away
and I feel your spirit
near me in the night
and you move me
like the moon over the tides.
I look to the time
when I'll always have you near,
in reality as in the best of dreams.
I hope you'll find me worthy
to stand by your side because you move me, you move me
like the moon over the tides.

I don't have good jam-band chops and it's normally not my bag (baby), but I did have a lot of fun adding the drummy bits to this one. Many thanks to Rob for letting me sit in on drums, shaker and even cowbell ... because, in the words of famed producer Bruce Dickinson: "I'm telling you - you're gonna want that cowbell on the track!" Rob, you were super-easy to work with and very good at conveying the dynamics that you wanted while letting me "do my thing". When I get more free time, we'll try another!
