Lyrics
There is no such thing as sin
But what you’ve been
Doing lately
It wasn’t exactly
made in heaven
or innocent
it wasn’t even
half-decent

You derelict
And sex addict
You motley bandit
Full of shit
With eyeballs
Like mirrorballs
Sniffing dope
From a kaleidoscope

But so you say harlequin
It’s not I dont want to assume
Worn
And patched up
Torn
And sewn-up
It’s not my costume…
It’s my skin

Oh I met poor Columbine
She used to shine
But you left her
And weeks after
She’s so lonely
She roams the streets
Wakes up in pulci-
Nella ’s sheets

You derelict
And sex addict
You motley bandit
Full of shit
With eyeballs
Like mirrorballs
Sniffing dope
From a kaleidoscope

But so you say harlequin
It’s not I dont want to assume
Worn
And patched up
Torn
And sewn-up
It’s not my costume…
It’s my skin

Your vocal is brilliant..
..just right with the accent and the sounds to create a Euro classic.

Right up my rue, mon ami!

Cool
this is how disco should have originally been created. Not the light fluffy stuff.

There's so much
you can do with with disco, I guess. It has no pretension to dignity or purism whatsoever. It's the most unashamed genre one can think of. That's why we thought it fit the topic.

Thanks for listening.

Proud
you like it. If you have your doubts about the hipsters in Brooklyn, you should see the hipsters in Paris!!!

Very European
In the direction of The Blood Hound Gang, who are quite successful over here. Glad to hear this one.
Thanks,

Sleazy Disco Dogs
This is another great song, CJ. The disco beats and bassline are really fresh and totally unique, adding a very interesting flavor to your savory sound.

There are, however, a few things I'd do to it if I ever had the chance to get extra arms around it.... (as if I didn't already - just play along with me) Why, I'd beef up the synthesizers and bring your vocals up a bit louder and add an insane blippity lead somewhere in the middle and take this to the heights of today's ugly disco sound.

You never play it safe cj. If I were to have an idol, you'd be it. But I can safely say, you are my role model for challenging one's self artistically. You know what I mean.

the song
is mostly Brentford's. It clicked the first time I heard the demo he sent. I liked the way his new wave sound formed a dark undercurrent below the booming vulgarity of the disco beat. My challenged was to take something as common and contrived as this beat and use it for a song that's maybe one of the most personal I posted here, but would still be a fun song.

Challenging Intro
Hey CJ,

I meant to tell you that I practically flipped a coin as to what to do with that tricky drum beat at the very start of the song - just before the bass... I loved it and I hated it, so I obsessed with it for hours. The timing on it is intriguing to say the least. It works. It doesn't work. Like I said, I obsessed over it, and it sounds like I still am obsessing over it.

I ended up beefing up the bass and dropping the drum on my version. That crazy buzzing sound that starts the song (da Hornet!) was so perfect to me. I almost used it as the outro, but decided that was too easy and besides, I wanted to bring BK's great guitar sound back again and preserve the original elements of the song that I liked the most.

I don't know
Maybe I slightly misplaced the beat at the start of the song while manipulating it. it's such a short sample. Whatever you did was well thought and pushed the song forward.

Not Misplaced - Mis-Heard
After at least 100 listens, I am convinced the intro is timed perfectly, it's just that my ears are misaligned or something grotesque like that.

I bet there's a drummer out there that knows what kind of timing signature you used. If there is, an explanation would mean everything to me and help me comprehend something as simple as the concept of time, rhythm and rhyme.

disco stomp
Very good. Reminds me of Blue Monday meets the Bloodhound Gang. Like the rising synth and the downbeat vocals. I felt that the bass should have been more prominent in the mix given the disco feel. Whack some compression on it and turn it up!! Enjoyed it though.

I don't know
the bloodhound gang but Blue Monday is holy scriptures to me. Thanks for stopping by.
