Description
The title is to get your attention. It's not about homes for dinosaurs.

The working title was Drumheller. This is a place in Canada where they have the most fantastic 'earth' museum, where they display items about all aspects of earth's history including dinosaurs, minerals, stones, metals, etc.. and the place, for someone like me, is awesome!!!

I visited once in the late 90's and never forgot it.

The piece was also inspired by a piece that Mystified did some months ago about dinosaur bones, but I wanted the living beasts themselves to rear their heads.

There are all manner of dinosaurs here from the smallest to the biggest and flyers of many types and, somewhere buried in the mix are the first scraping and rasping noises of the first mammals.

Enjoy the journey to a time long ago.........

it sounds so nice. i kept picturing this being the intro to some old krautrock piece, or a stereolab song. this is going in the car.

I'm happy you like the piece....
I'm happy that you liked this piece Michael. I've procrastinated endlessly on uploading this. It's been around a while, in various forms, and I've converted it to MP3 in three different takes but have always avoided uploading it.

There will be a series of this type of mix. I've hundreds of ideas that I need to get out of my head. The genres will be varied, so as to relieve the monotony. Expect anything up to 17 minutes, if only via file sharing, if you want any of the longer versions.

Take care.

Paul.

cool
the title did get my attention! but the music behind the title is what REALLY gets my attention. Truly wonderful work. What instruments are these that you are using?

Hey Brandon.......
The mix was helped along by a soft synth called XWOF, and has 7 oscillators and 5 percussion elements. It can be programmed to trigger via complex algorithms or via scale structures (either preset or manual) and can support up to 4 sound fonts and wave files for the percussive effects.

The original preset I used as a base for this mix is no longer in the latest version but I'll try and find out what it was called and the version I used to program from and let you know as you may be able to download it.

The synth is awesome and I've only just touched the surface of its potential.

There's a free version available and the registered version (which I have) is due to be updated any time soon, to make it even more awesome.

I've used all of this guys synths in various of my mixes since December 2006.

I also made extensive use of some effects in my DAW (Reaper 2) once the basic mix had been chosen, such as reverb and compression, but I'm no expert in this area so can only tell you that the mix is as it is through me liking the sound rather than through real sound engineering.

Hope this helps.

Paul.

I'm currently busy with getting my life back on some sort of track and hope to get into the music making business again in the near future, with a planned third net album 'Karma of Love' that will be an Immersive Ambient set of tracks. This should be... [see more]

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
