A Childhood Romance

Description
This is a mix that is basically strings with other, electronic components.

The mood is romance but with frequent 'excursions' elsewhere.

It seems to pick up in a romantic way just to be changed into something else, to be picked up again, to be changed again.

It (or something like it) will be featured on the 'Mechanisms of the Heart' album, later this century.

Good
Good sound. Kind of ambient. Another version that pushes the chords a little more would be interesting.

Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill....
This version steered clear of complications, to get the background, main varying theme, across.

There was already lots going on with the beat and other backing elements and the mix looked and sounded very cluttered and not simplistic as was intended.

I'll play around with the idea to bring in a more complex sound whilst cutting back, where necessary, on other parts.

Maybe only a 3 minute piece as a contrast. We'll see what comes out of the melting pot.

It's good to have the thoughts of others.

Thanks Bill for your comments.

Take care.

Paul.

Hi Michael......
Your thoughts, as always, are kind.

The piece, to me, has the more normal undertones with the less real and harmonious 'top' components. I have been working on lessenings the less musical parts and changing the mix and notes/chord sequences.

I wanted a more 'love piece' with complete changes, but more of each type of section, to denote shorted romances as a child and doing the same old things in each relationship until a lesson is learned. There are many of these 'love/relationship' lessons through childhood and adolescence. Hopefully we learn in the medium to long run.

There are a few new mixes completed. I'm going through them now to see if any are worth uploading or to see if I have to continue arranging the elements for a more emotional piece as opposed to a more electronica/experimental piece.

Thanks for listening and leaving your thoughts.

Take care.

Paul.

Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
