Description
This is a remixed and updated version of a tune sung by Ms. Rebsie Fairholm. The vocal tracks were submitted for the first round of the Voice4Choice Challenge and is an old Irish standard, "The Minstrel Boy." The lyrics were written by Thomas Moore (1779-1852) and set to an older melody known as "The Moreen." This tune has long been in the public domain and many, many renditions of it have been recorded.
I also sampled work of Ms. Brenda Cowe from '5pm'.

Lyrics
The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!

It's great to see the Voice4Choice challenge still going ... as far as I'm aware this is the 30th arrangement to be posted from that first round. :)
It's been a wonderful experience for me to hear lots of different interpretations of my vocal ... and I really like this one. I'm especially impressed that you managed to fit a beat to it because my timing was a bit eccentric. I like the different treatments and effects you've put on my voice, and the additional vocal samples (with contrasting American accent) fit with it really well.
Thanks for taking up the challenge!
