Description
Not a new song. As today is Rememberance Day, this seemed appropriate. I borrowed a section from 'Reply to In Flanders Fields' by John Mitchel for the last verse. My Grandfather always attended the service at the Royal Albert Hall, and my son will be attending the annual Scouts parade and service today. I'd like to re-record some of the parts of this, as it's a little bit clumsy here and there, but for the time being...

Lyrics
Fields of red, bend in the breeze
One moment you’re here, and then you’re gone
A generation, wasted away
Here one moment, then gone another day
Chorus
What would you think, if you were here today
Victorian splender, replaced with urban decay
What was it all for, who really knows
As we all watch, the poppy fields grow
Out of sadness they seemed to appear
It’s how we remember, year after year
Chorus
And so the poppies still gently blow,
Between the crosses, row on row
For freedom's cause, of you who lie
In the sky still the larks fly high

Peter and fair comment too... I'm pleased that a few people here have posted for Remembrance Day, albeit from slightly different view points, if it's only to keep the memory of those who've passed, alive. I like the clarity you always get in your performances too, both vocally and instrumentally, regards M
