Description
As my first foray into solo instrument writing, this piece allowed me to
explore a single melodic line without counterpoint. I had to evoke the
mood or feeling desired using only the flow and direction of the melody,
rather than changes and progressions in harmonic structure. The piano
accompaniment of course supplements the melody, but as a whole the piece
is melodic in focus--a change from my previous compositions.

The sound of this recording is, of course, terrible %u2013 the rumble if nothing else %u2013 but the composition is superb. It shows the obvious influence of Schubert, and that's the highest praise I can bestow.
