Description
I'm not sure if we're allowed to post covers up here, but I made my own rendition of the "Weeds" theme song, "Little Boxes," and I really like it, thought you all may like it too.

It's good to hear from you again, Stacey...
Short answer to the implied question is no, we're not s'posed to post covers, although it does seem to happen from time to time...

This has to be the most unusual version of this old folkie standard that I have ever heard... Pretty cool... Neat guitar sounds, if that is guitar...

Most people do this tune pretty sing-song-y... this has a rare intensity, along with the change of meter...Your voice is right there, as always...

I think Malvina Reynolds wrote this one...

Shucks! I Thought...
this was a tune about Christmas gifts. ;)

Ed (Ejh), gave you the correct skinny on covers, but I'm glad I got to hear this one. It is an unusually lush treatment for this song.

Glad to see/hear you're alive and well, Stacey. Happy holidays to you. ;)

You have a beautiful voice Stacey. And your harmonies and background vocals are very well done.

Are you playing all instruments here? Sounds good!

Enjoyed the song. Thank you:)

Enjoyed this
tune! Your voice is haunting, the fingerstyle guitar sounds really nice here. But again it could be a synth. But really nice. Great combination of sound and wow, what a voice!

oh well
You should send this in to the producers of "Weeds". I heard an interview with one of those guys on the Coverville podcast (which if never heard, you can get through iTunes or at coverville.com
Or at least send it in to Coverville. They did have an all-"Little Boxes" show, I believe, but maybe he'd squeeze one more in.

This most definitely is a cover and is against the terms of the site for legal reasons. You've departed significantly from the music, so much so that it could be its own song if the words were different. In some respects, I think the sing-songy quality of the original version actual underscores the message of the song a little better, about the stepford-wives-like creepiness founded in suburban sprawl that is probably even more true now than it was when Malvina Reynolds wrote this in the '60s. But this version is pretty good too, with that minor key thing making it more lonely sounding.
