Description
this is a song that I wrote in the vein of the Beatles (obviously), and I can't seem to come up with any guitar parts. i tried to get my best George Harrison on, but no luck (i'm not subtle enough). anyways this is a VERY rough mix (vox, bass, drums and wurlitzer), but i wanted to see if anyone thought they might wanna take a shot at it. i have uploaded the AIFF file to sendspace so feel free to grab it and work your magic. i used an AIFF since some might not have the plug ins i used for the keyboard, or the same GB version I have.

Nice job!
I think your GH sound is pretty damn good. Nice vocals. Nice, simple arrangement but very catchy. I can hear some guitar stuff in my head so maybe I'll give it a shot. Again, nice job.

Great song! I think just a smidgen of guitar but I agree with Tom Wounded and would lean towards horns. And I don't even like horns. Lol!

Dig it.
I am hearing a Marc Bolan influence in the vocals, especially on the verses. Nice song.

hey Noiso
glad you liked. wish i could have finished it, but i get so impatient if somethings not working after an hour or so. in this case, i sat down twice to record guitars and hated everything i did. passing the torch along.

Liked it...
After listening to it in it's entirety (a rare feat with most tunes I listen to hear), I feel inspired to tribute the Beatles myself with something....

Good Job, sounds great!

Dang M2!!
This song is downright tasty as is! Does it really have to have guitars in it? As far as horns go...how about if the horns are muted? I hear muted horns in my imagination as I listen to this. Anyway...I blown away once again by your musical musings.

thanks man
i thought about no guitars, but since it's basically a tribute/rip-off, i figured they should be in there. the way it usually ends up working, is i throw it up for everyone to play with, and then get inspired by others and finish it myself. i could hear horns like the Stones used on I Got The Blues, or maybe like an old Otis Redding song (more like chords and swells). thanks so much for listening.

You're a madman
This is genius - the verse and chorus are so strong, and your vocal is magnificent. When i saw 'open collab' i was ready to hit the download button, but i'm steering clear of this, as i cant play guitar, and otherwise its unimproveable (is that a word)!

Are you sure you're not some massive rock star putting stuff on MJs just to try it out?

Your covers blown!

You are....

I can't believe you're so prolific, and ar just offering gems like this up for collab - amazing!

I wouldn't go near this for fear of breaking such a well crafted piece! The vocals are fantastic. Cracking!

very kind of you.

as for being prolific, writing songs is a good cheap way to pass the time (when work is slow that is). i get frustrated when i don't have any time to play. MJ has been a really cool find, as for awhile there I was thinking that I had lost the ability to write songs after not playing in a band for awhile. thanks again.

Way cool Michael -
your vocals on this are just amazing - but what really stood out to me is the perfect Ringo tom rolls you got in the chorus - very Come Together there. Excellent tune. I'm afraid if I tried to add guitar to this it would sound like Neil sitting in instead of George. Beautiful tune.

it's hard getting fills together. especially Ringo style (he played so weird). i wish there were some loops of Keith Moon style drums. I heard "I Can See For Miles" on a commercial the other day, and it just always blows me away. I have a friend who learned how to play drums (after playing piano for years), and he is very Keith Moon. He has a record out (calls himself Extra), that is amazing: Floyd, The Who, The Beatles and some seriously prog touches abound through the whole thing. It's a double record, if that says anything about his view on music.

anyways, I digress. thanks for listening, and I think I have a song for you to get all Neil style on.

Fab!
For me, this sounds fine as is, but I'd love to hear someone get in there with a lead guitar - I've heard George is no longer available, but he'd have been perfect.

oh yeah
Very good song Michael. Your vocal harmonies and backing vocals are right on the spot. And the seventies piano adds to the beatles sound.

If you're going to do another version of this I'd like to suggest a couple of things that I think could bring on the Beatles feel even more...

Drums: They are good choices for the song, but the slightly groovy hi-hat is a bit too "Motown" and could be replaced with a straighter "Ringo" one...
Otherwise - great! The fills are very Ringo-like.

Bass: Well placed to the drums. Maybe a bit anonymous... Paul had the bass guitar very visible in the mix and used to hit some higher notes once in a while to let us know he was there...

And if you get a Harrison-like guitar in here... you'll have a awesome Beatles-like song! I say - go for it!

you are absolutely right about the bass and drums; i was thinking about re-doing the bass, but not sure yet. i'm hoping in the end it will be more "influenced by" than "an uncanny duplication." thanks so much for the tips and the kind words. i really love when people put in their two cents. happy holidays.

Whatever about the
guitar you think might be missing, this song stands on its own as it is simply because of the vocal. It is a great performance; there is great subtlety and emotion in your singing here, and everything else becomes secondary to that, I'd say. I'd be very interested to hear what somebody comes up with for the guitar. I will stay tuned. Very nice, dude. Peace.

LSP?
:D

it only took about 4 measures to get me to click that fav button. Nice job with the vocals, and the song sounds like a 'lost track' - so to speak.

I loved this as is but can see where you might want George to drop in...
only he might call on Eric Clapton to get a guitar sound he wants...
I almost afraid to work eith one of your songs again...way infectious

I will jam with it now and see what comes of it...

Don't know where to start. I'll just say that this is really great. Your vocals are incredible. The arrangement is too tasty for words.... it moves me and is a super-well sketched rendition of the fab 4's and Harrison's, in particular, sound. Well, done!
