Tell Me (with Kenta, Heightened)

Description
Kenta (Skean) originally posted his song "Heat of the Day" ... and then re-posted it with a fabulous addition by "Heightened" - MJ36813. I had my "Tinker" and added some lyrics .... the message of the song is that it is important that you tell people how you feel and the tune is interdispersed with extra vocal tracks expressing doubts that people have when people don't tell them how they feel.

Lyrics
(Tell me …. Tell me … Tell me … Tell me)
Tell me that you love me
(tell me that you need me)
Tell me that you care
(tell me that it wasn’t my fault)
(tell me that you need me)
Tell me that I’m beautiful
Tell me if you dare
(tell me that )
Because you know
You know - that I’m crazy enough
(what did I do wrong)
to tell you – that I love you
(did I make you go away)
That I care
(was it just bad timing)
Tell me that you love me
(was it me – was it me)
Tell me
Tell me that you love me

Thanks Feter ....
... I actually tried to sing this one in a "deeper" voice ... and the guitar is ALL HEIGHTENED ... a Fabulous addition to Kenta's original tune. I was hooked by the original .. but when I heard the next version .. I KNEW I was gonna have my "tinker" all over it .....
drakonis said 685 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
nice nice stuff everyone!
Kenta's got a nice tune here, and Heightened gives this a great David Gilmour (Division Bell) sounding influence (I love that lazy Pink Floyd guitar style), and Alannah, sheesh, your singing and your "speaking out of both sides of your mouth" style lyrics always keep my interest piqued.

We gotta get this girl a new computer though before she heaves her old PC out the window. :-)

Drakonis ...
I always love your comments ... but didn't you mean to say ... "speaking out of all four corners of my mouth" .... there has got to be at least FOUR voices in this one .... oh how I love playing with the "voices" .....

I love you and you're beautiful!
sweet tune........dark and sweet...very dark.
nice work!
Alannah said 685 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
I luv you too .....
... your baby picture is WAY cuter than mine ..... I thought you would appreciate the somewhat sultry and darker vocals I threw on this one ..... it's so you ..... but you of all people know what genre and style and sound of music attracts me ....

That's what my clock says and I still can't sleep...so I decided to surf Macjams... and there you are. Nice to see you posting some new songs again, Alannah. This one is more haunting than ethereal, more melancholic than romantic, more sorrowful than it is uplifting... the music and your matching voice do create an atmosphere of solemn sadness, which is just my mood at this time in the morning... quite a nice listen from one of my fav macjammers.

My time at reply is still only 12:43 .....
... so I'm pretty sure that since it's beer friday .. there is still plenty more melancholy to go around ... funny that I should see your comment here cause just less than ONE minute ago I was thinking about you .... oooh eeeh oooh ... LEON .... my friend ... just keep the music coming .. no matter how weird !

thanks ....
... when I first heard this tune I just couldn't get it out of my head .... cause I luvved it too - I was humming it in the car ... at work ... etc. I originally tried a different take on it ... but it was too disturbing .. (even for me) ...
davisamerica said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
right then alannah

Alannah said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
when did you tell me ....
... you would find this? How much beer did I drink? Was it me? Actually ... the lyrics in this song stem from a series of events which took place recently .... and it actually involved a few people .... and it is also reflective of people not trusting you enough to tell you things .. or being kept in the dark.
said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
Ah yes...
... I gotta tell you... this is another vocal gem of yours, wrapped in a luscious bed of music. Consider yourself commented upon and faved.

I hope you're feeling better now... ;)

Kudos all.

Alannah said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
heh heh yes ...
... just so long as you don't take your fave back ... I'll be OK ...

and ... I luv you .... RM ....
.. so glad to see you back around these parts .... I miss our morning chats .... but I suppose in the long run working full time is probably better for me than sitting around in my pajamas chatting on the computer .... working full time is gonna help me buy my shiny new super-computer.

New Alannah

Great stuff.

yes .. the shadows ... the mist ....
... I've always been a sucker for the style of music that has that swirling mistlike quality ... the better to tinker around with multiple vocal tracks and keep the swirl effect going ... I think I am hearing a theme here with the stuff I have been doing for the past year .... the "haunting" thing that sometimes gets stuck inside my head.
Moviz said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
This is
so relaxing and dreamy with that languid backing and your voice, which I heard and loved for the first time on the Christmas song carrying it nicely forward. An unusual song 'pattern' that works beautifully, Love it, regards M

pattern ????
... song pattern??? I don't think I have many of those tunes which are actually sung in a pattern ... or traditional verse verse chorus verse verse thing either ... heh heh .... I prefer to play around with no structure whatsoever .. no direction ... just kinda adlib it out there ... its fun .... thanks for the commentos.
Outtaorbit said 684 days ago (January 12th, 2008)
Well at least when you return,
you return with a bang..this is nice....berlin in the thirties and hollywood in the 50's..I like it, great combo of styles and heartbreak.

Thanks Outta ....
... yeah I guess I was gone for a while .... too much crap going on in the real world ... or should I call it the other world .... but it's a brand new year .. and soon I'm gonna have me a brand new computer ... and then it's some brand new music ! yay !

authority
Well I think we can agree that you have a very authoritive voice that demands attention. I think if you sang out in the grocery store people would stop and throw money and lottery tickets in your direction.

Then there's the little voices swimming around in the back of the head. always questioning. nicely laid out.

hahaha
Money and lottery tickets eh ...at the grocery store ..the place where all those tomatoes are so readily available .. hahaha YOU are too good to me !

Love that chorus, spacey sound in
the background in the background. Being in Nashville about a year, made me grow to appreciate the female singing there, especially ad the bluebird cafe. You would fit in very well there. I'll be you would love that place, I think you would find tons of kindred spirits there. The all love music so much and poor out their souls. Love the getting down to brass tacks type of lyrics, makes for a lot of great substance especially the that soulful Alannah singing,

Thanks for sharing!!!

Oddly enough .....
... I still feel I have not captured that "pouring out my soul" sound when trying to record ..... the technical end of it is kinda hindering my artistic end of things ..... cause when I pour .. I tend to get a little louder .. and when I get louder ... I peak ... and then I'm in the red ... and I'm still not sure how to set gain or compression blah blah blah to truly "pour out my soul" ... one day tho .... this too shall happen !!!! I just need to find me a "sound engineer" hahahaha
ValleyPastor said 678 days ago (January 18th, 2008)
Yeah,
You're beautiful.

I gotta make SOMETHING else for you to sing over.

Good work

Valley Pastor .....
... I would LUV and Honour the Opportunity to Sing over another one of your tunes .... ever since Blue Eyes ... I thought we could definitely come up with something again .... and as you know by now ... I am a sucker for the jazzy ... croony .... stuff .... (even though my nature is belt out a good ole fashioned rock song) p.s. you get to do the mixing .. heh heh!!!

Alannah from Canada... from Canada...
The words you put to Kenta's composition fit perfectly, and I love the reverb. Heightened's music makes it all dreamy, and all the voice parts give it the feel of all those thoughts overflowing and overlapping one another. Great collab!

I can't even ...
.. comment on the music part ... cause I just luvved it so much .... so much in fact that I felt inspired to sing all over it ..... Kenta and Heightened certainly laid down a fabulous bed for one to slumber in ....
said 659 days ago (February 6th, 2008)
get down, alannah
i couldn't even identify that vocal at first as male or female - what must it be like to go so low??? i like the concept here - and the lovely music wholly supports your swirling powerful vocals. i hear ya on the soul pouring out being difficult to do when one has to worry about the pesky technical part of things. but this worked a treat for me - very creative, and falls upon the ear in a pleasing manner.
pleased!

Alannah said 659 days ago (February 6th, 2008)
If you can believe this ....
.. that is actually my voice ... I didn't change the tempo or play with any pitch control at all .. hahahaha oh my is this what MENOPAUSE brings !!!!! Must be the lack of estrogen !
said 659 days ago (February 6th, 2008)
........
you know, i wondered later how that might sound.

what i actually intended to transmit was that
the vocal was not attached to an entity per se,
identifying the gender or personality wasn't necessary to process the purity.

hey now! what if that WAS your Soul pouring out i heard????????
i hear they like to fuzz up the gender issue anyway, those Souls.
hey nah nah nah,
anne

Alannah said 657 days ago (February 9th, 2008)
hahaha
... never worry how anything "might sound:" .... I just take it .. that it gives me a greater "range" in the long run!

What a great musical piece. The bed is perfectly laid for those deep vocals. I like it.

All .....
.. the credit goes to Skean and Heightened for laying down such an inspirational bed to begin with .... I am often only inspired to sing on what moves me ..... and that deepness (I think I alluded to it earlier as a sign of menopause or something) ... hahahaha

Peaceful
What a great song... Great FX's on it.... And a great melody.... Thanks for sharing...
Alannah said 650 days ago (February 16th, 2008)
Yes ....
... we spoke about this a little earlier .. but the FX are the best part for me .... (despite some calling me the Reverb Queen) ... I remain heavy handed on that little reverb button ! Will NEVER give it up ! Thanks for stopping by ... listening and commenting .... music is such fun .. no ?

I'm getting a 60's hookah-type vibe here, listening to this tune. Very psychedelic, moody, and introspective.

Thanks for the listen Stacy ....
... but as usual .. for those of you who know me .... I listen to other's music ..and then when I like the instrumental I am listening to and feel inpired .. I download the tune and just start to sing all over it ..... can't seem to help myself

Yes ... the guitar got to me too ...
.. when I first heard Kenta's original version I immediately emailed him requesting to sing on it ... he then told me that there was another version out there ... one with Heightened added guitar .. well when I heard that version .. and that guitar .. there was NO doubt left in my mind that I just LUVVED it and wanted to sing on it!
