Description
This mix is the outcome of one arrangement of instruments using the same note sequence to trigger but the dynamics of the instruments change the note lengths and so varying rhythms are interwoven though no accents are programmed into the algorithm used.

If you listen, the tune does develop (a little) and I've faded in and faded out so as to relieve some of the sameness.

The algorithm is somewhat Japanese, hence the title and probable feel of the piece.

lovely
i never find pieces like this same-y. i can get lost and i start hearing things that could quite possibly not even be there. i really like how this feels like an early electronic album i found in a thrift store years ago. great job Paul. you are getting quite conceptual these days.

you know
i could actually picture one of these pieces with something a little less tuneful, like a marimba or a kalimba playing the parts.

Hi Michael.....
It's a weird effect, how the repetition cause rhythms and counter rhythms to appear and disappear in a consistent but inconsistent manner.

It's almost like our brains are trying to make rhythm in a seemingly rhythm-less noise. Who really knows. Not me!!!

Thanks for listening to my musical ravings.

Take care.

I'm with Michael
There is subtle movement for the listener to hang onto. Does have a Jean Michel Jarre feel to it. Rieinholtnox!

Hi Daniel.....
From Glass-like to Jarre-like. Whatever next??

I'm not too familiar with Jarre. He never did much for me and I only have a remake of Oxygene or whatever it was called that was free with a Sunday newspaper a few weeks ago.

This mix is probably a one-off for style as too many of the same algorithm might send people to sleep.

Take care.

sweet
i'm no intellectual, so I can't talk algorithms or anything, but this is pretty darn cool.

It sounds good turned up really loud, crisp and clear and lots of space.

Cool stuff

Hi EF.......
There's no intellectuality on my page. Hopefully this thing about algorithms and such wont put you off visiting again.

There's a straight, no into-fade version on icompositions, called 'Just to Reiterate'. You may enjoy this version as well.

Take care.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
