Description:
spitlogic posted an amazing A capella vocal he called "Cult of Anubis" a few days ago and invited people to take a shot at remixing it. I thought it was such an incredible performance and really identified with some of the lyrics, so I was inspired to give it a go.
I fully intended holding back the heavier edge for this but it was what I was feeling at the time so I went with it. Added a bit of a vocal and threw in a Tom Morello meets Jimi Hendrix meets Vernon Reid outro solo as well.
Hope you like this, man. Thanks for giving us a chance to work it.

You never cease to amaze me Ridd! You have musical talent pouring outta you that most people just dream about! Great job. I have never particularly favored rap music, but this song began with great lyrics from Spitlogic and you made it jump out there with your creativity! Awesome collab.
rsorensen
wow. i just read all your scathing comments on our fab collab, and then you write high praise like this? I'm so confused! Are you building me up just to tear me down again when I least expect it??
Haha thanks gail, really.
lengold
thinking exactly what Gail said and then read it.
Cheers

thanks len. this was another case of being completely inspired by spitlogic's great vocal. I had to get in on it. Hope he likes it.

love spitlogic and this just rocks man .. very impressive and much enjoyed! great mix man ... really nice
rsorensen
Thanks davis. Yeah his flow and choice of lyrics is phenomenal. I hope he keeps posting A capellas for us :)
As for the mix, after hearing it a few times I think it could use a little more beef in parts, but thanks for digging it!

Ditto everything Gail60 said - you just are a bottomless pit of talent and creativity Ridd. Really - it's amazing! Wonderful collab - congrats to all!
rsorensen
really appreciate the sentiment, especially coming from a talent such as yourself :)

this is great, like how you used a non hip hop approach to this. intro was really cool too. i like the heavy bass that comes in A LOT. great job. Rage was always a guilty pleasure of mine.
rsorensen
thanks michael. like i said i intended it to be a little less rock, but once i tried that fuzzy bassline there was no going back.
lavalamp
Love it when the drums come in. Very nice delivery regarding the vocals. Great mixing job, Ridd.
Dig it, dig it

thanks dave. i was hesitant in adding the vocals because I didnt want to take anything away from spitlogic's. glad you think it worked well.

This is pretty damn cool. You did an awesome job with this Ridd. Spitlogic's vocals were cool to start with, but the guitar and vocals you added are great. Can definitely hear the Tom Morello in there. Great tune - not usually my style but I'm gonna have to download this one!
rsorensen
hey thanks for downloading. the morello part in the solo was an experiment that worked out really well. glad you like it.
davisamerica2
How can this be? It's not what I listen to. But, I guess it is now. Great job! Gonna download, and shake the paint from my car. They'll hear me comin' two blocks away
rsorensen
well thanks for expanding your tastes and checking this out. dont charge us for the new paintjob.
spitlogic
This is awesome. The different tone of this song is a testement to your talent and gives a fresh perspective on my lyrics. I love the guitar play in this as well. Thank you again for taking the time to make this. Very well done.
rsorensen
so glad you liked it. your lyrics and performance solely inspired me to do this, so thanks back at you. Would love to do another.
Nick_Flash
cool mix man. I dig the heavy edge you put in. I can definitely hear your style show through. Spitlogic can drop a hell of a rhyme. We should talk him into more acapellas.
Great track!
rsorensen
thanks nick. looking forward to hearing what you've done with it.
Not my usual style to listen to but this is very well done. Cool!
rsorensen
thanks for listening anyway, yeman. glad you liked it!

thanks a lot for checking this out and sticking with it even with the aversion you have for rap. I'm glad you think this worked, because I didn't want to do a cliche rap/rock kind of thing. Tasteful's good! Thanks.

Man, I am totally diggin' this jam! When the drums kick in is is such a sweet release and then they drop back out so quick-leaving you wanting more, and then they come back bigger/ better with an awesome rat-distortion on the bass (?)!!! The Vernon outro lead has me bangin' my head. Spit's rap is flawless and a great bed to the groove. Really great job.

tokai
lyrics are compelling as the track, top collab. Guitar sound is rich and solo is great.

shavingronaldscar
very tight work! I think I'll take a crack at that acapella myself...
The Orbiting
I really dug the heavier edge, so I'm actually really glad you went that route. I loved the melodic vocal you added, as well and think this was wonderful. Thank you so much for posting it and for the download. I love it when rap is so musical and you did a great job preserving the integrity of what spitlogic was doing, but also putting a cool spin on the whole thing.

Diviner
Really good soundbed that you have put together. The whole track and vocals have been really well done. To tell you the truth, its probably the best remix I have heard.
I have been impressed by the collabs I have listened such as Craft and now Spitlogic. Nice one.
