Description
This is the original version that I recorded about 3 years or so ago, of a song I wrote 12 years ago, except I remixed this one in Logic Studio, and I recorded a new lead vocal using a Karma K58 tube mic that I am currently trying out. I think it's going back because it's got some weird crackle in the power supply. The noodling around in DADGAD that I did for the MacJams Coffeehouse thing, here, motivated me to go back to the original GB version that I'd recorded a few years back and tweak it a bit. It's pretty much what I'd done before, with the e-bow guitars taking the lead. I did add some little touches, like the Tibetan bells, new Sculpture synth parts, a tabla part, and some different Logic effects.
When I originally wrote this, I'd just bought gotten married and bought a nice house, and I was playing in a band where we had a nice residency in a popular pub playing our original songs and the occasional cover song. One cover song was "Fisherman's Blues" by the Waterboys, and this song has a bit of Mike Scott in it, I guess. It also is pretty much about Einstein's theory of relativity and how it relates to being in love with someone, and how nice it is to come around the curve to home knowing someone is there waiting for you.

Lyrics
Curve (Jim Bouchard)

It’s the curve of time and space
it’s the curve of your smile
that keeps me on this road
keeps me walking this many a mile

And this I love

It’s the curve of time and space
It’s the curve around the bend to home
keeps me on the road
keeps me true on down to the bone
Solid is how I want to be
the clear reflection in this pool called life
but it’s never been all that still it’s more like a stream
and this is a brief look at a bright light

And this I love

So you could sleep under these stars
and the universe would turn and turn and turn
You could be hiding there in that infinite darkness
And I would still find something there to learn
its the curve of time and space
it’s the curve of the encircling embrace
when the welcome home meets the wandering soul
and the rested heart meets the weary face

And this I love

gee, I forget exactly what was used except I know there's a Yamaha 12-string guitar and a couple e-bow electric tracks. The new lead vocal was recorded with a Karma K58 tube mic through an Apogee interface.

Gorgeous
Artistic treatment and care to the music/lyric relationship. the kind that has visceral effects on listener, as music should.

A touching vocal performance. Everyone on macjams should hear your music. It is so very special and beautiful.

I have been playing music a long time. When I was growing up my brothers had a band called the Regal Tones which was quite popular in our little town in upstate New York State. They got bitten by the music bug and later went on to found the p... [see more]
