Lyrics
summers eve & the bartender is handing me another beer
hoped against hope but I didn't really expect to find you here

you were away for so long, i thought about you every day
in my mind you were beautiful, but not quite this way

cecily, come on over and talk to me
honestly, i want you so bad it aint hard to see

you and yr friends standin there lookin pretty like morning flowers in june
now i have to sigh and close my eyes as you walk across the room

ah, look at you
did you know you're this boys dream come true? cecily.

Catchy tune
I instantly liked the guitar, not only the way you play it, but also the "clean" sound. Nice melodies, with a very catchy chorus. Nice beginning and end. Overall a very nice tune, dl'd.

Nice tone on that bass
Enjoyable summer melody with a slight retro feel to it. Nicely harmonised and doubled vocals.

The bass stands out nice and crisp!

thnx!
thanks for the kind words.
Given my age and listening habits, I'm afraid everything I do is going to have a retro feel. :)

tele
my guitar is actually a really ugly 80's "contemporary tele".
It's a pukey purplish-pink colour, and goes out of tune constantly. (but I love it anyway).

Sorry I missed it
This is a nice piece of rock. A gem. Bass-end is great, but maybe needs a bit of the high EQ, too.

I really like your song and think you're an excellent writer.

thanks
glad you liked it! the writing/ recording thing is kind of new for me, I do think this was the best one I've done yet.

I have no clue about EQ... would you suggest boosting high frequencies or subtracting from the low end... and on specific instruments, or on the whole thing?

how does the collab thing work on MacJams? I'd be happy to do something...

Cool!
Yes, really a nice Rock 'n Roll tune. Cool guitar and vocals and a great bassline and drums work. I enjoyed listening!

grerat song
bass sounds good! i like yer stuff. this one has a tom petty feel to it. chorus and bridge are excellent. everything could use an overall mix boost, but songwriting is priority and you nailed it.

Yeah
This kicks ass man. Great song writing and performance.

Had a hard time picking out some of the vocal lines but it was groovin' along quite fine.

Southern California Rock Influences
Yeah man,

this is a great song. Vic is right about the Eagles sound - I heard that before I read his comment. I also heard some CSN in there twangy chorus as well. I also hear the Dead Milkmen, so I don't know what this all means.

Killer guitar riffs and I like the bass line, especially your phenomenal bridge (awesome!). It's cool that you let go of the strings 3 minutes after the song ended!

By the way, you did a great job managing those drum loops. I'm forever impressed at the skills of people like you.

drum loops
have you tried Drums on Demand?
It was pretty easy for this one as I recall.
I think I used one of their "song sets" called "Bonhamesque"
just drag and drop! all the fills are prefabricated... thanks to the macJammers who recommended those loops.

Thanks for checking out my song, much appreciated.
I was surprised at the Eagles comparisons but I do like that song "Take it Easy"... you never know what's going to come out when putting a song together I guess!

Mellow fabric
I'm liking the overall vibe in this - I like the Cecily / honestly harmony. I agree with Bob - that bridge is great.

Really enjoyed your guitar playing. A cool East Coaster of a sunny day driving tune. Nice ending - the buzz is great as a sign off.

Downloaded & straight to iPod.

As good as it gets
... damn man but if you don't write perfect power pop. Vocals and harmonies here are tip top. Paul Chastain and Rick Menck live in your basement don't they?

Hi Paddy, thanks for checking out some of my older stuff....
this one was recorded before I upgraded my setup a little bit, I actually don't really like the way it sounds...but glad you enjoyed!
the power pop thing is what I seem to like to do the most. I hope to have another one in that vein posted in the next couple weeks...
