Description
Imagine the vacuum of space. Stark, cold, silent. Imagine a force of interstellar spacecraft within a solar system, bound for the planet they are about to invade.

Imagine a passive satellite, observing the arriving force, simply relaying the information as monitored, to forces/those on the target planet.

Imagine those invading forces regroup above the target and start their invasion.

As before, please let me know whatever you think about this mix. All thoughts are most welcome.

Hi Paul
This is very evocative and your description sets the scene very well...almost like the calm before the storm.

Pity we don't have any visuals to accompany it (other than those of the minds eye)

Love the organ sounds drifting in and out

Hi B...
Thanks for the kind words.

I'd have loved to really use this as a sound track, to the scene that I set in my description. That would be something!!

I tried to keep the mix simple, so used only 3 or 4 soft synths and the name number of effects. Current synths that I'm investigating are DSK synths, of various flavours, plus any and every algorithmic synth I can lay my hands on.

Take care.

Every one...
...of your compositions has something unique to offer the listener. This one is no exception. You capture a visual image with power and precision and relay that visual with such a richly layered soundscape. I have said it many times before: Film Makers, listen to this man! You are writing things that need to accompany film scores. Don't lose heart. You are a master of your universe!!!
Peace.

Hi Paul....
My main problem with making music at the moment is the lack of processing power. I am going to build myself a beast of a computer from scratch and hope that this will allow some of my concepts to come to fruition. Currently I'm using up to 4 laptops, 2 Mac mini's and a Cube pc, and still some tracks crash my systems......Then I have to mix the takes together, etc., etc..

I'm glad that you appreciated the soundscape having read my description. One day I will just put a link to the movie so you can listen and watch at the same time.

Take care.

Paul

Hi Daniel....
It is very frustrating writing music to non-existent films!!! It's a good job that I have a vivid imagination!!! All I need now is a wannabe-Spielburg or new-Kubrik to use me on a couple of sampler-movie's or tests.....I'm not gonna hold my breath........

As I replied to Bryn, the concept for this piece was simple, but space-sounding. Sort of a vacuum but with noise!!

Good to hear from you.

Take care.

your music is always so entrancing - I wish I could figure out how you put all these cool sounds together. I always feel like I'm on a spaceship, headed for points unknown (I would feel that way even without your descriptions!) Great work as usual, really grabs me and pulls me in (as usual)

Hi Karen....
You always give me great encouragement and spur me on to more soundscape experiments.

The different aspects of this mix are layered together not necessarily because they are musically in tune, but because the 'angles' of the sounds seem to fit together, if that makes any sense. The collage of sound that sometimes comes out is worth uploading, for others to listen to. Sometimes they just don't make it!!! For every one that I upload, there are maybe 3 to 6 other versions that just don't cut it, or that would be uploaded as a variation, at some later stage, if I remember that they have been done.

We'll see what comes out of the mixing bowl next....

Take care.

I'm currently busy with getting my life back on some sort of track and hope to get into the music making business again in the near future, with a planned third net album 'Karma of Love' that will be an Immersive Ambient set of tracks. This should be... [see more]
