Description

Last summer I did a rainy blueslike song, Summer 07, to commemorate that summer - and to get going with Garageband and song writing again. This summer was warmer and somewhat lazier and the time since I last opened Garageband has become alarmingly long. So here is Summer 08, a loungy thing made with a bunch of standard GB loops which you may or may not feel sick listening to AGAIN... Not the song I had in mind when I started out, but what the heck. I'm beginning to like the thing :-)

But I wouldn't dream of pretending to handle loops better than you!!! You are the master, I think! But this was a way for me to get started again. I hadn't opened GB for several month and just had to do it not to forget everything about it. Hope to do something a little bit more creative next. I just need some of your flowing creativity...

About the weather: I had a 5 weeks holiday this summer and hardly a drop of rain. Last Monday I started working again it's been pouring down most of the time since. Nice timing for once :-)

Not elevator music, it seems, but what is it? I'm not sure. Put it in Cinematic Soundtrack as a way out, but I really don't know 8-| I can hear wordless vocals on this and anyone is welcome to have a go if they like! Hadn't heard about Alison before but went to listen on her web site. Nice!

I'm afraid you were another one I had missed to fav as an artist and therefor I have missed a lot of your songs. I am listen to some now and they sound terrific! Thanks again and take it EZ!

laaaazy, but not elevator...
Hi Henke, good to hear new things from you, as always! Fancy that... I only recognized one loop! This is indeed lazy, but the rhythmic bass and drums add a little energy too, so it does have a bit of bold Summer feel to it. The arpeggiated high synth gave me hints to some later ELO music. Good stuff.

You are too kind. About the loops, I guess I do have the slightly larger Soundtrack library stuck in there somehow. Maybe some of these loops were found there...

Any suggestions what it is, if not elevator music? I really couldn't find a good genre in the list for this one.

Summer
Ah, a great tune for summer listening. It's so hot here right now, and this has just enough cool synth in it to help the heat seem not so bad. Great use of loops - loved the movement throughout, but it wasn't too energetic. Perfect for a lazy summer afternoon. I loved how you moved the different synth sounds forward and then back - wish it was longer!

I'm not totally pleased myself, not really my "style" I guess and it is not as gratifying when it's all loops, I guess. (Tried to hide some of the more obvious ones by moving them up front and back again. Not sure if it works, though.) But too short you say? Put it on repeat!!! (Sorry, just joking, go listen to something worth listening to instead ;-)

Hope you make it through this warm period. We had ours in July, but August has been pretty wet and autumn-like here in Stockholm...
