Lyrics
you wanna jump
you wanna scream
you wanna say something mean
and the dreams
you told to me, were perfectly obscene
Left your place
Slammed the door
We just gave away the store
But Youre still trying to climb up the pillars of society
Forgive me if I tell ya that that don’t mean so much to me now.
First timers, are you ready for the big walk
Hardliners, handshake turned into a headlock
You wanna jump
You wanna fly
Open up the freedom eye.
Then you could be
A silver stream
Or a tiger on the mountainside

No, I am of the correct vintage to appreciate the uber-Canadian icons you mention. I am pleased to be mentioned in the same breath!

classic....
..... rocker in the vain of 70's heavier rock sound. But, that's a good thing more memorable and ballsy!

retro
It seems that pretty much everything I do comes out retro, although I do not consciously try for that! Oh well... :)
I guess it reflects my musical "first language", being a middle aged dude!

lotsa fun
like the drum intro and the way the lead is layered over the rhythm - matthew sweetish - REALLY like the almost teeny-bop "pillars of society" melody break smack in the middle of the hard rock tune. Lots of fun, reminded me a bit of Sloan too with the high/low doubled vocals. Cool!

thnx
I'm a big time power-pop fan, so the two reference points you noted are pretty relevant for me! matthew sweet is one of my particular faves, esp. richard lloyd's guitar solos which have influenced my amateurish attempts quite a bit.
many thanks for listenin.

Rock out!
Hey! Nice job Relic...Great sound on those electric guitars.

Nice vocal and harmonies. Strange to say, they remind me a bit of late 70's "Horslips."

Cool fuzzed-out soloing. Love it!

A worthy effort friend! Keep em comin'...

Be well!

horslips
thanks for the kind words.
I've actually never heard Horslips' music - they were Irish right?
I'm going to have to check them out.

RE Horslips
Yeah, they were the fathers of celtic rock.

Their early stuff is very celtic. In the mid-to-late 70's they adopted a more Jethro Tull type sound (in particular) on their album "Aliens," and in the late 70's to early 80's they adopted a more conventional and radio-friendly rock sound.

They disbanded in 82; fought a legal battle lasting many years for control of their music; WON a major legal victory; and are now back in the saddle.

They've so far remixed, remastered and re-released all 11 of their classic albums, plus put out a new acoustic album consisting of re-dos of some of their best tunes.

A current U.S. based group which is often compared w/ Horsips but is actually MUCH better is "Tempest" (NOT to be confused w/ the european metal group by the same name).

I've always been a fan, but I like a lot of English and Irish stuff (Fairport Convention, Oysterband, Wofstone, Runrig, Blue Horses and Steeleye Span to name but a few).

Well...I'm starting to ramble, so I'd better sign off...

Be well friend!

I'm with you on Steeleye and the Fairports - great stuff.
I wonder if Steeleye Span ever played with Steely Dan...

thanks
many thanks for checking out my tune. I agree it came out Sloan-ish although I was kind of thinking about bands like AC/DC and T. Rex when I first started on it + maybe a bit of Matthew Sweet.

The guitar sounds are courtesy of the Line 6 Pod, which I learned about from you if I remember correctly! One of the reasons I love this site, you can learn quite a bit about music production for free. And yours are some of the best-produced on the site.

Wow!
Big guitars! Big sound! Love it - great job on the b.vox, and I love a cowbell in any song - much underused instrument IMHO!

Enjoyed -
