Description
One of the things I love about working with Matt is that he often does interesting things with the vocals I send him. This song is an extreme example of that. A few weeks ago, he sent me this really cool piece of music with vocals already on it; after a minute or two, I realized it was me, but I couldn't figure out where he'd gotten the audio. Apparently, Captain Packrat had stashed a couple of minutes of talking I'd sent him when I got my new Firewire interface to show him the difference in sound quality and he had sliced and diced it to make it into something completely different.
After massaging the song a bit, he added some beautiful music on the outro and I begged him to let me sing on it. This is a little different than our usual thing, but I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

Captain Packrat here. This song evolved out of an experiment I tried in 5/4 time that sounded like crap. Smooshing it down to 4/4 gave the groove this odd, lilting feel to it that reminded me of Thom Yorke's solo album, and since I want to steal everything that Thom does, I went with it. This is a tune that evolved and changed and demanded to be finished. There's talk in The Orbiting camp about an extended version at some point because Lisa's vocals at the end are so cool. So maybe it's not finished.
I guess the lesson is: don't send me any audio files you wouldn't want in an Orbiting song. BTW, the end atmosphere was recorded on my Zoom H2 in downtown Seattle during my trip to visit Lisa this summer.
And as usual, stick around for the end. Or you will miss the end.

Lyrics
It's all a war
for the future.
I will be your whore.
What do we battle for?
What are you asking for,
and do you want it?
It's all a war.
This futurewar.
I couldn't love you,
I couldn't love you more.
(brace yourself)
Your futurewhore.
I couldn't love you more.
Brace yourself, brace yourself, brace yourself.
I couldn't love you more
for the future.
I will be your whore.
What do we battle for?
What are you asking for,
and do you want it?
It's all a war.
This futurewar.
I couldn't love you,
I couldn't love you more.
(brace yourself)
Your futurewhore.
I couldn't love you more.
Brace yourself, brace yourself, brace yourself.
I couldn't love you more

that Mr. Packrat doesn't have any photos of you stored away anywhere. No telling what he might come up with.
