Stars' Lullaby

Description
I wrote this song in senior year of high school. This version was recorded with MIDI keyboard and MIDI drums, and the vocals recorded in a sketchy study room in a dorm haha, but all that considered I think it turned out pretty decent. I'm hoping to get a legit recording of this song soon. Drums and mixing by Andrew Freire.

Lyrics
lying upon the grass
the darkened sky seems so inviting
and i wonder what it's like
to be among the stars
and have them sing their lullabies for me
as they'd hold me in their arms,
"it's time to go to sleep
there's no need to weep
please try to smile and hush, love
cuz we're here tonight."

but then the music starts to fade out
all the lights have slowly burned out
here i am alone and wondering
how can i let him go?

is this love?
or a lie?
is this what their songs always
glorify? cuz i'd
choose the lie
if it meant
that we'd be here, babe
together in the end

lying upon the ground
a shooting star falls right beside me
and i try to hold him close.
i've never felt this warm
on such a cold and icy evening
then he sings his song to me,
"it's time to close your eyes
i'm by your side
i'll keep you safe and warm, love
cuz i'm here tonight."

but then the music starts the fade out
morning came and moved the stars out
here i am alone and wondering
was it all just a dream?

is this love?
or a lie?
is this what their songs always
glorify? cuz i'd
choose the lie
if it meant
that we'd be here, babe
together in the end

thank you!
thank you so much! i've actually gotten a lot of comments from people saying the drums overpower the piano, but i personally really like having that contrast of mellow and busy haha. maybe if we could get a legit studio recording of this song everything will come together better. thanks again for your feedback, it means a lot :D

very good start...
I really like the song melody/structure here, and you have a good singing voice. I agree with Feter, that the drums are a little too loud/insistent/persistent through the whole song... it sounds to me like if you had NO drums until you came up to the "is this love" chorus, and had the drums power up to that and play through the chorus, then fade with a cymbol hit to nothing into the next stanza, that would probably work really well on this... give the chorus a lot of power.

Very nice! Welcome to Macjams.
